Tesco DF98 Desk Fan
Advantages: Works well, cheap
Disadvantages: Quite basic
I work in an office with huge windows which makes the temperature quite difficult to control as in the winter, it is freezing cold, but in the summer, you get the effect of a greenhouse which means it is like an oven in our office. Last summer, we decided to get a fan which we could place on a chair in front of our desks so it gave us a nice cool breeze.
We were told we could get one, but out of our own pockets so obviously we weren't going to spend a fortune on a product that was just for office use and so we chose the Tesco DF98 Desk Fan.
We chose this one purely for the price. We purchased it for around the £11.00 mark which I thought was pretty good for a product like this. The fan itself is on a slight angle meaning it blows the air into the perfect area and not too low so it blows towards the floor.
Obviously with a product like this, you don't get many features and the one feature this fan really has is that it has two different speed settings, but that's your lot really.
I was quite surprised by the power of the fan. I imagined it to be quite powerless but it was rather powerful, far more so than I had expected and the air is just the right temperature. It has a nice coolness to it but without blowing freezing air onto you. It is a really comfortable temperature and leaves you feeling refreshed, but without feeling a bit chilly.
Some fans like this have a really annoying buzzing noise as it works but thankfully, this one was rather quiet and didn't distract me from work. We used it on quite a regular basis last year and not once did it give us any reliability problems.
This is a decent little fan and due to its compact size, it fits nicely on top of a cupboard to store away over the winter period, which is what we have done and as the fan is made of white plastic, if it starts to look a little grubby or dusty, then you can simply wipe it down with a damp cloth and it looks as good as new.
Overall this is a pretty decent fan for the price. It works well, is pretty quiet and blows air at a nice, refreshing temperature. Yes, it is pretty basic but then for the price, you can't really expect much more from it and it does everything you need it to do so therefore it comes with a recommendation from me.
Summary: A decent, cheap desk fan from Tesco's
