The Pampered Chef Crinkle Cutter
Advantages: Easy to use
Old fashioned crinkle cut chips are delicious and prompted our purchase of the pampered chef crinkler. We bought it from a kitchenware store at Cheshire Oaks shopping centre in Chester. Although not an item you will use everyday, it is always good to have in as it makes food prettier and more interesting.
==Price and availability ==
The pampered chef crinkle cutter costs around £8.00 and is stocked in online stores or in kitchenware shops.
The device has a very sharp blade that has a series of indentations that when pressed against a vegetable cause them to be cut in a crinkly fashion. The blade is rounded with a sturdy handle at the top for you to yield some great pressure while it remains sturdy in your hand.
The device is easy to clean and the blade can be wiped down after use. For a more thorough clean, you can slip it in the dishwasher.
==How to use and how I find it==
To crinkle cut your veg, simply slide the blade against the vegetable and push down firmly or in a more gentle rocking motion. You can really push down on the comfortable handle and as long as you cut on a sturdy board you will have crinkly vegetables in no time!
We mainly use this for potatoes when we make chips but we often use it for courgette and carrots as they give the finished dinner that little extra pizazz. As far as making chips go, I find the crinkler really easy to use and will more often than not spend the extra 4-5 minutes using this cutter. Carrots are a little more fiddly as they are smaller and do not look as impressive, however it still works fine and people usually comment on the excellent presentation.
You can probably pick up a crinkle cutter for a cheaper price in a Betterware catalogue or in wilkinson's ( I have seem similar looking devices for less than five pounds) but the quality did not look as good. The handle is the biggest selling point as it allows you to have a firm hold on it and prevent it slipping from your hand. The blade is also exceptionally sharp, this is another sign of the excellent quality. We have given the crinkle cutter quite a decent amount of items to cut through and the blade still remains impressively sharp. I can fully recommend this product and the only disadvantage is that I think it is a tad overpriced.
