Thumbs Up Telly Terminate Device
Advantages: Great little device, dual function
Disadvantages: Doesn't work on every TV
Picture the scene - You've had a bad day, and you really need someone to talk to. You turn, hopefully, towards your other half, telling him about all the frustrations of your day - being late taking the kids to school, missing a bus and having to walk in the rain, losing your purse on the bus, and having to deal with the stroppy bank counter assistant who insists that you can't take any money out because you don't have any ID, which was all lost in your purse, meaning you have no way to get home, other than walk back. In the rain .
As you're pouring out your troubles, you become aware of your other half giggling. Does he not share your pain ? Does he not care that the rain has left your hair frizzed up like a poodle thats been poked with a cattle prod ? Of course he doesn't - the footy is on TV, and you wouldn't be able to get his attention even if you leapt about naked in front of the screen . Worse, he has the remote clutched in his clammy little fist, and there's no way to turn off the precious footy without looking like a stroppy attention whore!
Fear no more- Telly Terminate is here! A small black circle of plastic that attaches to your keyring - one side marked with a thumbs up symbol, the other bearing two small buttons . Not a device that grabs any attention, just a small insignificant circle of plastic . Oh, but the power this device contains could change your life ladies! One of the buttons is a clever little tool that puts virtually any TV into standby mode . Simply point, from behind your partners uncaring back, and watch as that football matchs fades into a black screen.
Giggle to yourself in amusement as your other half then tuts and presses the remote to turn the TV back on .Give him a few minutes to assume it was a one of glitch, wait right until someone takes a shot at goal, then push that crafty little button again . Amuse yourself with the string of creative curses that follow as your other half turns the TV back on, and then repeat your actions, laughing as he curses the TV, and the impeccable timing of the shutdowns . Then when he gives up in frustration, pour out your troubles and recieve a hug, albeit a slightly bad tempered on as he can't watch the rest of the match .
I can't guarantee that your other half will be supportive and kind, offering tea, comfort, and unlimited supplies of chocolate, but at least his day is equally ruined . There now, don't you feel a bit happier?
If your partner is a bit more clued on that most, and starts to look at you with eyes full of suspicion, never fear! You'll remember that I mentioned this product has two buttons - one of which powers up a handy little LED torch , so when asked what this black keyring is for, you can demonstrate it's perfectly innocent purpose as a handy tool that helps you find the keyhole!
A word of caution though - whilst this works on MOST TV sets, it does not work on all of them. My mums TV seems to be particularly resistant, and I still find myself forced to sit through 'Songs of Praise' when I go and visit her on a Sunday evening . I have however discovered that this does work on the big screen TV in my local pub. I think on Saturday, when England play the USA, I fancy a quiet drink in my local, rather than a lot of shouting football fans spilling beer everywhere with their enthusiastic cheers and reeking of stale beer and sweat.
Such a shame it will be crowded with football fans on my relaxing night out - or will it ?
This little device costs just £4.60 on amazon.co.uk , and I think for that price it's a fun little gadget that just might get you a little bit more of your mans attention during the footy.
