Advantages: Extremely cute mouse

Disadvantages: I can't get it to stick to where it's supposed to stick to

At my workplace due to health and safety, we are no longer allowed to use liquid tippex. Now, I do understand that liquid tippex contains TCA, a nasty chemical that causes central nervous system toxicity, and that some people use to become intoxicated. However we are all mature adults where I work and none of us is so desperate to escape the tedious boredom of the office environment by inhaling tippex for goodness sakes!

Anyway, enough ranting, what about Tipp-Ex pocket mouse? The Tipp-Ex pocket mouse appeared in our supply cabinet a month or so ago and we were all immediately intrigued (ok, fine, forget what I said about us all being mature adults). This mouse was there in place of the Tippex Exact Liners that we used to get, a very boring and humdrum piece off office stationery that works the same way as the pocket mouse but doesn't even look like any kind of animal.

The Tipp-Ex pocket mouse, by contrast, is very cute. It's blue and looks like a mouse and has a little eye and ear painted on it to enhance the appeal. It says Tipp-Ex pocket mouse on the side and even has a cap that looks like a little red nose, although the cap on mine fell off the first time I used it. Sorry, mouse, I didn't mean to snap off your nose...

This type of tipp-ex has some advantages and disadvantages over traditional liquid tippex. The advantage of course it that it doesn't dry out. The disadvantage is that I find it incredibly difficult to use and always end up getting tipp-ex everywhere except the line that I wanted it on.

When you make a mistake (by handwriting, I mean, not to be used on the computer screen!), you are meant to apply a line of this tape (come to think of it, it comes out of the mouse's nose which is pretty disgusting actually) onto the offending mistake. You run the mouse nose alone the piece of paper and the tape/mouse snot is meant to come out and stick to the paper. What actually happens to me is that the tape comes out but doesn't stick, or sticks to the wrong place, or doesn't come out at all.

Oh well, nobody writes anything by hand anymore anyway and this mouse makes a very nice decoration for my desk. Costs range from 50p up to around £3 for one of these mice, so it pays to shop around.

Summary: Get this as a decoration but don't expect it to be very useful

We always used to find that the used tape used to twist and block up the mouse

Good old office boredom...I have fond memories of bubble wrap bikinis, paper birds and taped up phones.
