These controllers are designed for use with the PS3 game BUZZ! This is a quiz game which is great fun, partly because it's really well designed and great to play in a group - very competitive! - and partly because of the use of these buzzers, which are brilliantly designed and really make it feel like you're competing in a real quiz. The design of these buzzers are great - you've got a big red button at the top which you use to buzz into questions when you know the answer, and four other smaller buttons going down the controller which are used to choose the right answer, which all have a colour that coordinates to the buttons on the buzzers. These buttons feel really good to press, and react really quickly - there's no delay, and this is really important, as often it's a race to buzz in, and the game can record how quick you were, so it's really important that this works. The wireless part of these buzzers is a really good idea, as it makes them less messy to store and means you've got more freedom over where you sit etc. Especially as TV screens are so big now, it's good that different contestants can sit wherever they want. In a sense you don't really need to have these buzzers to play the game, and you don't need to buy these wireless ones if you've got the original wired ones from the PS2 (also, if you have the PS2, you can still use these controllers with the PS3 games, which I think is a great feature). However, it really makes the whole experience more interactive and more entertaining, and because this is a great family or group game, I think it's worth having the best equipment if you can. At about thirty-five pounds, these four controllers aren't cheap - however, they make such a difference to the gameplay that I think it's worth it, and it means four players can join in. Also, once you've bought the controllers, you can use them with all the different BUZZ! games, which I think makes them pretty good value. I would definitely recommend this product.
We got these with the Buzz game for the Playstation 2 about two years ago for christmas and the entertainment was short lived but good. The idea of these controllers is that they are like the red buzzers that are often seen in game shows. We used them in conjunction with the Buzz game which uses them in the same way. The game is set up like a quiz show asking various questions on different topics and you must press the big red button on top of these buzzers to get a chance to answer. There are different coloured buttons underneath the main red one and these are used as to any multi answer questions. This pack of wireless buzzers contains four buzzers so you can play games with that many people. Usually when we had more we would get people to team up as two. Be aware though that these take 2 AA batteries each and they were not included with them so this was a major setback on christmas day for us. Also because they are wireless they were lost as soon as we finished playing our first game. To be honest it was a bit of a novelty and as they were a gift I am glad I didnt waste my own money as I dont think they have been used since then! They cost 30 pounds on Amazon at the moment but dont waste your money! They just get old and are not as entertaining as we thought they would be.
I asked for the Buzz game and wireless buzzers to go with it last Christmas as I really love games like it. Plus I thought it would be a good game to pass the time over Christmas when all the presents have been opened, everyone has eaten too much and is on the verge of dying from boredom! My mother-in-law purchased the buzzers for me for our PS3 though this particular accessory is also compatible with the PS2. The whole idea of the game is to put you up against your family and friends and see who the quickest is in a fast paced quiz game. Upon getting them out of the box I was really pleased to see that the buzzers are wireless, meaning that you do not have to worry about 4 sets of wires (there are 4 buzzers in a pack) constantly tangling up and that you can sit anywhere you like with the buzzer so you don't have to sit next to that one member of your family who absolutely drives you to the point of insanity! The buzzers are made of a lightweight black plastic with 5 buttons on the front and a slide button on the side which turns the buzzer on and off. The buzzers do need 2xAA batteries each to make them work. The batteries do last a good while though as long as you remember to slide the power buttons to off when not in use and also as long as you use quality batteries. At the very top of the buzzer is big circular button which reminds of something off of Britain's Got Talent! This is the button you press to buzz in to answer the question. Underneath this big red button are four rectangles of colour - blue, orange, green and yellow. These colours match what you see on the game and match the answers. It makes answering questions a little bit easier. The buzzers have alays reacted well for me and I have never had an issues at it not buzzing in. All the buttons are brightly coloured which is good as we like to dim the lights and give it a full gameshow type of experience and they show up really brightly and are easy to see. I love the buzzers and think they are a great idea from Sony. They hare alot of fun especially when things get a bit boring over the Christmas period. they are easy to use and so lightweight you don't even feel like you are holding them. My mother-in-law paid just over £30.00 for them from Game though I am sure if you have a look about you will find them cheaper. 5 Doo Yoo stars from me!
The Buzz series of games have always been a staple of Sony's consoles and are a great family title for people of all ages. The game is based around a quiz show, presented by an over the top character, in which up to four players compete for victory across a range of rounds. Its all intended to be good family fun with well pitched questions and a range of options to make the games as accessible as possible as well as great online support via multiplayer and downloadable content. This is a review of the controllers though so for more on the game please see the relevant reviews. The game is based around the buzzers. You cannot play the game if you don't have buzzers and each player requires one to take part so unlike other novelty controllers with titles its essential you own these. In the actual game pack you get 4 anyway so this is just for those who maybe have picked the game up on its own or have broken a few. The buzzers consist of five buttons. Four coloured buttons used to answer questions and make character selections etc and the main buzzer to use when required. It all lights up and looks and feels well made. Of course in this day and age each controller is fully wireless with no option to wire it up. Each unit requires 2 AA batteries but the battery life is long. In the pack here you get 8 official high quality Sony batteries and I have had the game over 3 years and never had to change them. So unlike the Wii motes don't worry about the additional expense of batteries just yet. The wireless controllers link easily to the console using a USB connector. Its simple to pair them and it always connects via Bluetooth technology first time. There is no lost connections unless someone turns it off and it has a wide range. All in all the pack is worth getting if you have the mates and time to play the game. Its fun all round and can be made a whole night of. £29.99 is a bit pricey for 4 controllers that work with one game (although they are compatible with the PS2 version if you own it) so only purchase if you will get the use.
Buzz is a great game on the playstation console and I played it a few times last year and it's fantastic fun for all the family. If you are going to play this game you will need this set of wireless buzzers that are for use with that game on the Playstation 3, but are also compatible with the Playstation 2 as well. I have these buzzers now for my Playstation 3 and used them for this particular game that pits your wits against friends in a fast paced quiz. I managed to get this box of four wireless buzzer controllers for about £30 on Amazon. The great thing to note with these straight away is that they are wireless as in this game it's important you don't waste time with wires getting tangled up while playing. Another thing that I really like about these is that they are comfortable enough to hold in your hand for long periods while playing the game. Again, there's nothing worse than not enjoying the game or thinking too much about how bad they are to hold in your hand. They are made of plastic and are quite light to the touch. The buzzers themselves have five buttons on them and a slide button on the side. At the top is the bid red button that you buzz in with at times in some rounds to answer questions. Then there are four rectangular buttons that are coloured blue, orange, green and yellow. These four colours match what you see on the screen for certain answers and help to answer more easily. The slide button on the side of the controller is to turn it on and off. Another advantage is that the buttons are all brightly coloured and quite large so it's simple to press and see them, even if you have had a few drinks and playing with friends! In order to operate the buzzers you need two AA batteries for each one.The batteries last a fair while in my experience, and we try to play this game at least once a week if not more. These buzzers are a great buy in my opinion and are a a great compliment to a great game for the Playstation 2 and 3 consoles.
