I must start this review by first mentioning this important point.
If you are reading this review before going out and buying Kinect read on, if you all ready have it and just want to see other peoples opinions on this then you are free to skip this section!
*Make sure you have the room.
Kinect acts very much like the Wii only much better! With the Wii you pretty much need to keep the remote in the sensor bars range.
Kinect uses your whole body as a giant remote. You do need a lot of space in order to use this, I am quite lucky as my front room and living room are together so to speak with just a large arch in between, which does give us plenty of room, but should I not have the two rooms as one I would never have been able to use Kinect.
This is my son's but he can't use it in his room as he simply doesn't have the space, so whe he want's to use it, he brings down his XBOX to use in the living room.
So there, you've had your warning!
As we have the newer XBOX 360 slim the Kinect plugs directly into the console, f you have the older style 360 then you will need to to purchase a separate adaptor.
Once you are set up, you then configure it for face and voice recognition, this is fun and easy to do, my son does it a lot quicker than me though!
There's a nice selection of Kinect compatible games available, these generally come in a purple case rather than the typical green cases that XBOX games usually come in.
Because you are the controller, Kinect allows you to really interact with games, I like dance central and you have to dance, you actually have to move your body which is better than the Wii as you can cheat with the Wii dance games by simply shaking the remote a bit!
The Kinect makes gameplay so much fun and from a fitness perspective is fantastic, as you get a real good workout.
It looks nice and neat on top of or under the TV, you get a slim black strip with a camera in the middle of the bar, it's glossy back in colour.
Using this is fantastic, just like the Wii but better! The fact that there's no controller as such seeing as you are the controller makes it so much fun, if you have played the Wii before you will notice that this is much more fluid like and movements are picked up better.
A fab bit of equipment!
Priced at around £120 it isn't cheap for what it is, but you can get some great deals where you can buy Kinect and an Xbox 360 slim for around £150.
Kinect usually comes with Kinect sports which is a brilliant game filled with lots of different mini games.
Summary: A great bit of kit!
