I loved the idea of a sensor for playing video games. So when the Wii came out I went straight out to buy it and at the time I did think it was great, I could control my character with a remote, rather than pressing buttons and wheels.

When the Xbox brought out Kinect I thought it would be similar to the Wii, jumpy, not very reactive and at times difficult to control. I was very wrong!

We got a Kinect for Christmas and I wasn't that interested in it for myself. I watched everyone else play it and thought that it did look quite good, but you can't always tell until you play it for yourself. I thought it was a great idea that the kinect followed your body movements and no remote or controller was required, we've often had the arguement over putting on the wrist straps with the Wii!

The Kinect simply tracks your body's movements. If a game requires you to jump, you simply jump, no controller and it for me it has tracked my movements accurately every single time.

I think the Kinect is great and does make the technology of the Wii look pretty laime in comparison, but then the games are different so I do still have both. There is a growing amount of games available for the Kinect. We have quite a few now and the good thing is that prices are starting to go down quite a bit.

I love games like Zumbe, I cant dance around my living room, no wires, controllers or straps around me, completely free and I can watch myself on the TV at the same time to see how I'm doing. I can also watch a reply afterwards as well, which if nothing else is always good for a laugh, or even diet motivation.

The Kinect does sell for around £129, which isn't cheap, but if you shop well you can pick up some good deals and for us it was well worth the money.
