Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller
Advantages: Greater response time
Disadvantages: Difficult to store away
Anyone who has an Xbox will be familiar with the Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller. I remember when I first switched from Playstation to Xbox. The new controllers seemed bulky and difficult to operate. I particularly had trouble with the shoulder and trigger buttons, which in my opinion, were not in a suitable positions. However, after a while my hands and fingers began to become familiar with where to tap and before long in what second nature.
When I purchased my new Xbox it came with two wireless controllers. Much better than these wired controllers, though they do need two AA batteries to opeate. However, a couple of weeks ago the unthinkable happened. On returning from a night at the pub I fancied a bit of gaming. I switched the Xbox on and began a game of Tiger Woods golf. About 13 holes into my game the batteries died. I search the rest of my house, but didn't have any spare batteries. UNfortunately I don't have any local shops and I was over the drink limit to go out and drive, so I had to abandon my game.It was very frustrating.
To ensure that this kind of scenario never happened again I went out and purchased two of the wired MS Xbox 360 controllers. Its always important to have two, in case you have friends over. I got them on line for only £17 each, which was the cheapest I could find. Quite reasonable in my opinion.
When I received the controllers I decided to test them out. At first I was a little put off by the restrictions these controllers put on you. But after considerable gamin I came to conclusin that these wired controllers are actually a little more responsive when compared against the wireless version. Particularly when you are playing shoot 'em up games, like Halo, Call of Duty, etc.
Another feature I like about these controllers is the position of the analog sticks. They are perfectly placed for the size of my hands. MS obviously researched the manufacture of this product well.
Another massive plus point about these controllers is that they are compatible with MS PC's as well. I regularly hook this up to my PC and enjoy the different games I have store on my PC.
These controllers are very durable. I am quite clumsy and have dropped them on the floor a number of times. However, they have never been damaged and still function well.
Storage wise this controllers are a bit of a pain. I like to wrap the lead around the controller when I am putting them away, but remember not to wind it too tight, else you may have issues with the connection.
Other than that, this is a very reliable controller, which is handy to hve as a back up in case you run out of batteries on the wireless version.
