      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Very Very Good, 5 out of 5 :D

This controller is an affordable replacement to the Offical Xbox 360 Wired controller, it is soo much better because you dont have to worry about tripping over the wire if you want to move around your room. This is the perfect solution because the controller is visually stunning, it feels great to use and NO MORE WIRES!! It makes sence to have a wireless controller for the Xbox as all other known gaming consoles all have wireless controllers.

It is such a pleasure to hold in you hands and your gaming experience is never the same without it. The controller feels so much better than a ps3 controller because of the way microsoft have made the joysticks for your thumbs to be more seperated when playing games which allows you to have faster reactions when playing intence games for example, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. The only negative thing I have to say about this controller is that microsoft want you to buy a lot of AA batteries because they do not supply a rechargable battery pack that you can buy from Amazon for around £7.99, which is a very reasonable price.

The controller itself it not to big for my hands and sits comfortably and the weight is balanced and not too light or heavy. You can use accessories with the controller for example, the wired microphone which is essential for playing games on Xbox Live and the chat pad which is excellent for typing to people on messenger and on Xbox Live. I rate this product a 5 out of 5!!

If you are looking for a good controller for your PC, look no further. I purchased one of these a couple of years ago and I have had no problems.

The style of the Xbox pad is perfect; the usual 4 action buttons, two shoulder buttons, two triggers, two analog sticks and the D-Pad. The pad is comfortable to hold and you have a tight grip on it.

The version you buy from amazon comes with the crossfire reciever. All you need to do is plug it into your computer and you will have a working pad in no time. Once you have installed the drivers, you are ready to go, and when you press the middle button of the pad, it shows you how much battery is left.

This pad also works perefectly well with your Xbox 360 meaning no splashing out for extra pads if you buy an arcade console. Any wireless devices designed for the Xbox 360 will also connect straight to it or even just other 360 pads you have lieing around(e.g. rock band peripherals for guitar hero world tour).

A lot of PC games you purchase will have native support for this pad meaning that all you need to do is plug it in, and the game will recognise it as a 360 pad and no extra configuration is needed

The only issue with the controller is that the battery pack it comes with, you need to keep buying replacement batteries. I would recommend getting a plug and charge kit, they are usually about £9.99.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Best controller out of all the other consoles.

The xbox 360 wireless controller is battery powered by AA batteries and lasts for quite a while depending on how long your playing it for. It can also be recharged with a rechargable kit that you can buy. I think that the xbox 360 controller is the most comfortable controller out of all the other consoles, because it has grip on the right and left sick whick helps when your playing hardcore games.

The colour of the four buttons are really good because they stand out from everything else on the controller which means you never press the wrong button. The buttons are really soft when you press them and they don't get dirty because dust and dirt doesn't get in between cracks and crevasis of the buttons. The background colour which is white makes the buttons stand out which makes it easyer to see them as well, but i thnik the best thing about the controller is the shape because it's just the right size for any ones hands.

Overall i think that this is the best contoller because of it's comforbility on the hands.

        Thanks, for reading.

The xbox360 wireless controller is the main controller for the xbox360 games console by Microsoft, it used to control the console using two hands, navigating the various screens and to control the games available for it. The controller itself is battery powered and was one of the first controllers available that contained wireless technology.
In my review I will cover the following subject,

        * History
        * Usability & Design
        * Style
        * Alternatives
        * Advantages & Disadvantages
        * Price & Availability
        * Conclusion

        - History

The Controller itself was announced on MTV may 12th 2005 and details of the controller were fully divulged later that may at the E3! conference for gaming in 2005, and was initially released with the xbox360 consoles, and is seen as a later version of the xbox original controller. However unlike the games from xbox original the controller was not compatible with xbox360's game play, and so a new controller was required which I am reviewing today.

        - Usability & Design

The controller I found initially very easy to use as the Joy sticks, triggers and overall shape of the controller were very easy to use. I found the controller very easy to hold and the controls interact well with the console and game play. Even though the controller as a lot of buttons and directional aspects, I believe its simplicity is in its complicity, once using the controller once I found it a breeze to use.The controller's buttons are well labeled either by colour, name or number. The controller is light and not a punishment to hold, however if younger or have smaller hands I believe it may be uncomfortable even though I have no issues with it. There are many accessories available that can be connected to the controller this easy to do via the plug-in port at the bottom.

        -Style

The style of the control matches that of the xbox360 theme, and fits in well with colour scheme of the brand, however if you're not pleased with this faceplates in different designs can be bought to manage it to your personal needs.

The style doesn't affect the usability at all, looking at the controller you can see the thought that went into the styling I believe was truly amazing and this is the perfect design and style for gaming controller.

        - Alternatives

Alternatively you can purchase other controllers for the xbox360 including wired controllers which are wired and cheaper or other navigational devices such as keyboard and mouse... but at the end of the day most of these weren't designed by Microsoft but some are, even looking at this I could not compare any other controller I have used for the xbox360 or on other consoles do no where near match the style and grace of the xbox360 wireless controller.

        - Advantages & Disadvantages

Looking at the advantages of this controller are many, the first one is its wireless which gives you the flexibility to move around without the constraints of wiring, which to me after years of gaming with wired controllers is a blessing from gaming manufactures, it's like going commando on a sweaty day!A second advantage of this amazing piece of technological genius is the light inbuilt rumble pack which vibrates in game according to game play this has previously been attempted by Nintendo and other Manufactures and as never been designed to the standard of the Xbox 360 wireless controller, I say Kudos to the developers.

A third advantage is that this one of the first controllers to have supreme response time a versatility which allows you to control the xbox360 and the game worlds within in swiftly moving through environments to a supremely high quality standard.

Looking at the disadvantages now, yes there are some shock horror, the first of which being the controller is battery powered by two AA batteries which add to the weight and can be quiet costly to the user constantly purchasing batteries, although Microsoft have came up with a solution for this in the form of a rechargeable battery pack however this does cost a small amount to purchase.

A second disadvantage is the fact that most of the additional controller addons cost money, e.g the headset and messenger keypad, which sadly weren't included in the original package, but oh well you cant have everything and for what you get it's already an amazing product.
Overall the advantages out way the disadvantages for what I truly believe to be an amazing product, which even though three years old still is the latest and best technology.

        - Price & availability

The xbox360 wireless controller if you did not get one with your console or if you would like to buy another one to team up with your mates or family can be found in most media stores, super markets and on the internet for a price between £24.99 and £39.99 the cheaper option being from sites like Amazon or ebay and the more expensive from stores like Game or Argos.

        - Conclusion

In conclusion the xbox 360 Wireless controller is truly a product I enjoyed, found easy to master and appreciated the design that went into it. The product itself may have some disadvantages but the advantages out weigh these and I would recommend this controller to anyone who plays xbox360 or who is into gaming.

          Advantages

          • Reliability

          Disadvantages

Better than the non wireless controller!

This controller is the controller is the official wireless controller for the Xbox 360 regardless of the type of console (arcade, 20gb, 60gb or elite.)

          No more wires!

A great feature of this controller is that it is wireless so you can say goodbye to falling over wires and getting them all tangled up. This used to always happen to my PS2 and it took ages to untangle them. Another great thing about the controller being wireless is that I can play on my Xbox where ever I am in the room. The maximum range of the controller is 30 feet. The only downside of the fact it is wireless is that it uses batteries which go in the back of the controller but to solve this you can buy rechargeable batteries e.t.c

          Look and Feel

The controller looks great and fits the sleek design of the console. You can buy the controller in different colour and designs but I have just a plain white one which is fine. The controller has the main buttons A,B,X,Y which are coloured different colours and in comfortable positions. There are two analog sticks which are used like other analog sticks on other consoles. There is also a D-pad which is not used very often but is quite easy to use. The last buttons are the shoulder buttons and these are brilliant as they do not get jammed like the R1 button used to on my PS2 from lots of use and eventually fell out!

From experience the controller is very sturdy and does not break easily. It also looks really cool and fits the look of the console itself.

          Xbox Guide

The large button in the middle is the Xbox Guide button and is very important. Pressing this opens up a little menu and from here you can do nearly everything like playing music, exit the game, sign in, view your achievements and messages and much more. If you hold the button longer you can turn the console or controller off without moving - great if you are lazy like me! When the batteries are running out a light flashes around the button in a circular motion to tell you it is low on batteries.

          Summary

Overall the controller is a really good piece of kit and essential for your 360 as you could not play without it! It is sturdy and hard to break but also comfortable to use and hold. It looks really sleek as well and as I have said before matches the console. The controller is as good as the PS3 controller if not better. It might not be as innovative as the Wii`s but that does not make it worse. My favourite thing about the controller is that it is wireless so you never have to untangle wires again and can never trip over them! I recommend you buy it as it is much better than the other controller with wires even if it costs a little bit more!

          Price

The controller can be bought at the time of writing from Amazon for £27.51 at the moment but there are probably cheaper places to buy it!

xbox controller is easy to use and can sustain knocks

This controller is for use with Microsoft's Xbox 360 console and can be purchased at practically any high street gaming shop for a price between £25-£35 depending on which retailer you choose to make your purchase from.
You will receive one contoller standard with all of Microsoft's Xbox 360 consoles if you buy the product stock but you may receive two if you buy the console as part of a bundle package made available by alot of gaming shops.
This controller is very useful and withstand plenty of drops and knocks you may have if you are the kind of gamer who usually gets quite annoyed when you are stuck on a certain part during your gaming experience, the controller I think is alot easier to use the for instance the ps3's as the triggers at or L2 and R2 seem more attached and not as floppy as on the ps3 system.
This product can be purchased in many different colours such as green and black and there are also alot of accessories available for use with this product like a rechargeable battery pack and keyboard for quicker use when writing messages to friends and using Xbox Live's Windows Live Messenger System.
The controller can be used to turn on and off your console via holding in the large X button situated in the middle of the device, you also have the option on most games to either use the D-Pad or the analogue sticks.
Thankyou for reading my review, please don't hesitate to rate and and I hope this information comes of use to you when purchasing and using this brilliant product.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

A truly wonderful controller that ticks all the right boxes.

I was a Playstatuin man through and thorugh before the "next-gen" consoles hit the market. I started off with my Playstation One. When the decision came to choose between a Playstation 2 or an Xbox, I chose Playstation 2 simply because it had a better controller (I thought.)

Now after buying my 360 it has occured to me that Playstation controllers are complete rubbish. When you hold one, it feels light and cheap, as if you could break it by gripping to hard. The Xbxo 360 wireless controller feels solid in your hands and overall is much more cleverly designed than its Sony counterpart. The sticks are more conmfortable as they are inverted rather than rounded. Tis means that your thumb sits in place on the stick rather than being balanced on a rounded edge on the Sony controller. The sticks are also positioned in a more convenient place, when you make a fist, your thumb naturally goes upwards and rests on your index finger, this means that on the Xbox controller, there is less strain on the thumbs as they are in a more natural position than stretching across to the middle of the Sony controller.

The face buttons are more prononced on the xbox controller. By this, I mean they stick out more than the Sony face buttons do. This means there is less chance of accidently pressing a button that you didn't intend to press. It also feels more responsive as you have to physically press a button rather than put slight pressure on them.

The shoulder buttons and triggers are just superb, the best part of the controller without a doubt. They fit perfectly into the hand and are comfortable for long gaming sessions. The triggers are responsive allowing for careful accleration on racing games and rapd fire shots on Shooting games. The left and right bumper are postioned perfectly for quick grenade throws or camera changes.

One down point of the controller however is the directional pad, although noy used very much in modern games, it stilll can be frustrating. On the xbox controller there is just one solid directional pad, not indiviual buttons meaning that when you press up, but accidently press at a slight angle to the right, it can sometimes register as a right button press. As I have said, this is not a massive issue as not many games utilise it anymore.

The controller is wireless which means that you can play without the need to constantly worry about someone tripping over a wire and snapping it or pulling the xbox off the shelf etc. However this does mean that you need a plentiful supply of batteries. Two average batteries will last around 10-15 hours, but Microsoft also make powerpacks which can be recharded without the need for batteries.

Overall: the best console controller available, can also be used for Windows Pc Games.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

its fortunate one comes with the xbox as they are not cheap, but worth it

The xbox 360 wireless controller is certainly innovative, and certainly does beat having all those chords tangled up across the room. Saying this it is by no means perfect.

The controller itself, disregarding the fact that it is wireless temporarily, is good. It has the mandatory ergonomic design that is vital if it is to make the console itself popular, very comfy to hold and easy to use. Microsoft obviously soon realised that the original design on the xbox was simply too large, especially children use them alot. Therefore it has been downsized over the years and is now the perfect size, making it easy to hold and simple to reach all the buttons, from the four shoulder buttons to both anologue sticks and d-pads, all of which allow for many functions to be used. In my opinion it is far better than the playstation controller now after overcoming such flaws, and also looks nicer with its smoother curvers.

The wireless attribute its great to a certain extent but does have its flaws. On the upside we have discussed the fact that there are no wires...obviously! But the range is great, as in you can take the controller so far away that it works but you cannot even see what is happening on the TV clearly enough!

However the negatives must be the battery, they do run out too quickly in my experience, and playing on xbox live when your controller dies is not a greaty experience! Therefore the plug and play thing is a necessity, a nifty way to beat the only downfall of this controller. Furthermore the controllers are not cheap, retailing at around £32.00. However nothing is cheap in the gaming world sadly, on top of this there are not any knock off versions for a lower price around (Not that I have stumbled across anyways)

                  Overall its a great controller

good controller save up for the wireless.

This is without doubt one of the best controllers i have ever used. It fits into the palm of your hand so well and most of the time doesn't really feel like you are holding anything. The toggle that is used for most games is almost like glue to the fingers, you really can't slip off it unless you want to. I love the silky green x box button that your able to connect your controller with.

The shoulder buttons are also in a really great location, not too far around the back. It is well worth the xtra couple of quid to get the non wire version in my opinion.

The rumble on the controller also makes it feel as if you are in the thick of the action as well. The only thing ihave that is negative about the controller is the d-pad, it really isn't that good, it feels tacky against the thumb. also the other analog stick is hardly ever used so i really don't why it is there.

Still nevermind a perfectly good controller all the same.

                      Disadvantages

                      Comfortable Controller

These days, everything seems to be wireless - and this is especially apparent when it comes to games console controllers. Both the Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii come with a wireless controller as standard - but the one which started everything off was the Xbox 360's cordless device.

Costing £24 from Amazon, the pad is comfortable to hold and moulded from white plastic. The main 'A, B, X, and Y' buttons are colourful, glossy, and located in places that you don't have to stretch to reach. The controller features two analog sticks which are sensitive to even small movements, and also a D-pad and four shoulder buttons.

With a sturdy feel, the wireless controller is pleasing to look at, and has smooth lines which match the minimalism of the main Xbox itself.

Of course, being wireless, the device needs batteries (2xAA) which slot neatly into a removable section on the underside of the unit. The controller is actually quite efficient when using decent batteries (an estimated 30hrs of gameplay), although I would recommend the official Xbox rechargeable battery unit which I previously reviewed.

As well as powering the wireless element (which has a range of 30 feet), the batteries also provide juice for the effective rumble / vibration feature of the device, which adds realism to the gaming experience.

The large circular Xbox button in the middle of the pad can be used to access the main 'dashboard' (the desktop of the Xbox 360), turn the console on and off, and also 'sign in' to games. When the batteries are running low, the light around the button flashes in a circular motion to warn that they will need changing soon.

In conclusion, the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller is a well designed gaming peripheral. Due to its look and feel, it's easily as good as the one designed for the Ps3. From an innovative perspective, it's not as ambitious as the Wii controller, yet it is very efficient in what it was designed to do. Recommended.

A great, comfy game pad that delivers.

After owning and playing on many many games consoles, I find that the controller for the Xbox 360 is one of the most comfy to use. It takes the average design of console controllers and modifies it to increase the comfort and level of control you have, all the buttons are very easy to reach and use in various combinations.

The controller sits very comfortably in the palms of your hands with the curves of the controller fitting perfectly. The buttons are all within easy reach of your thumbs and fingers so that you never feel like you are doing yoga with your fingers to try and play a game. Plus, the central x button to access the main menu at any time is a quick and convenient addition.

The novelty of a wireless controller never wears off, it is a joy to sit there with no wires and having the freedom of moving around without tripping over the wire. Plus, the battery life of the controller is quite good, especially if you get a rechargeable battery pack. I hope microsoft don't change this design in a hurry!

                        Disadvantages

good controllwr but check if the games you play support it.

I have had one of these now for over 8 months for sole use on the PC.

First off the controller is excellent, its responsive and fits in the hands really well. The buttons are well placed and feel naturally placed where you're thumbs are likely to land.

Yes it is a bit heavy feeling compared to the ps3 controller but I like this so won't complain about it.

Now although I love the controller I'm afraid I can't recomend it as a purchase for the PC alone as the compatible games as pretty rare at the moment. I like sports games and have purchased 3 games which should have been great with this controller (PES 2008, EA rugby 2008, Brian Lara 2008) but unfortionately only PES 2008 is any good with it. The other 2 games have no capability to change the controls to match the joypad and as such buttons get mapped to the wrong locations (such as using the start and select buttons for controlling actions) and as such the game becomes a pain to play.

No games I have tried support the feedback and as such the motors on mine have yet to be used.

Hopefully I'll get the xbox 360 to go with it at some point and really enjoy the controller, and hopefully more games will be released that can support it on windows (or microsoft could provide a bit of software to remap the buttons like the old gravis pads used to have).

great value for money brilliant peice of kit

I never had the original Xbox but i have played with PS2/3 controller and the original Xbox controller and the Xbox 360 controller is in a league of its own, people say its heavier than the PS3 controller but its not that much heavier and you dont really notice anyway, but the 360 controller is comfortable, powerful, great design and you can control everything you want to do just by pressing the middle guide button which is impressive and as its 30ft wireless range it will work consitenly and powerfully not matter how far away you are from the console, its also a quality product that wont break and the amount of choice in power options is really good, you either use 2 AA batteries or you use a battery pack for the controller and you can charge it by using the charge cable or the charge port. over all brilliant controller

                        Advantages

                        Disadvantages

great controller with no wires and great features such as the guide button

This the wireless controller for all xbox 360 consoles regardless of whether they are the arcade console or the newest elite console. This controller will work on all the consoles. The controller itself is just as important as the console as without the console you are kind of stuck and can't do much. This controller is also wireless!

                        Wireless:

I remember when i had my PS2 and PS1 and had all those wires dragged across the room and getting all twisted within each other - then my mum would always complain about them being left everywhere and wire becoming a hazard. Now that is no longer a problem with the new xbox controllers coming completely wireless. I can now sit where I want in my room and not have to worry about the wire getting caught or stretching across to my desk with the controller in my hand and suddenly being jerked back by those annoying wires. The wireless system involves 2.4Ghz technology (not too sure what that means but it works very well) and a 30 foot range. So you can now walk out of the room with the controller in your hand and have absolutely no problems.
The fact that it is wireless does mean it requires batteries which fit onto a pack on the back - two AA batteries, but if you don't want to keep buying and changing batteries you can buy rechargeable batteries, which is what I currently own and recharge buy connecting the controller to the xbox through the USB.

                        Look and feel:

This controller looks quite cool and is generally white to look the same as the console itself. Of course there are several other versions of the controller including a blue and pink version as well as several different special edition versions such as the Halo Spartan version which I own and find to be awesome.
The controller of course has all the normal buttons being A, B, X, Y, the two analog sticks, the d-pad and the shoulder and trigger buttons.
I find this controller not only quite smart to look at but also the best controller i have ever held. It is curved in every place and fits perfectly into the hand with the trigger buttons perfectly fitted for ease of use. Some people say that it looks quite bulky but I do not find this at all and it seems great to hold, even with the battery pack on the back not causing any discomfort or problems.
There is also a headset port on the button so you can plug in your headset and begin talking to your friends on xbox live.

                        X-box Guide button:

The guide button is that big one on the front that is a circle with an x on (ie the xbox logo). This button is the most important button on the controller. It has to be pressed in order to turn the controller on and it will light up on the specific spot to indicate which player you are (1, 2, 3 or 4) for example for player one the top left quarter will light up. You can also have up to four players playing using wireless controllers at the same time. To actually connect the controller to the xbox is simple as you press the connect button on both the controller and the xbox and the controller will flash all lights and then become connected. The button can also be used to bring up a mini dashboard menu on the screen where you can locate your personal settings as well as your gamer card, friends lists and messages, etc.
The button can also be used to turn off the controller and the console. y holding the button down an option will appear on screen to either turn off the controller or the controller and console.

Other features of this controller include the ability to change the vibration in order to conserve battery life. Of course the battery life for the controller will mainly depend upon the batteries you have used - but in general the controller can last for hours on end with a good set of batteries.

                        Price:

The wireless controller costs £30 from play.com
A wired controller costs £18, but it is certainly worth spending that bit more for so much more freedom and no wires!

                        Summary:

*2.4GHz wireless technology with 30-foot range
*Use up to four controllers simultaneously on one console
*Integrated headset port for Xbox LIVE play
*Adjustable vibration feedback for longer battery life
*New left and right shoulder buttons are designed for ease of use
*Use the Xbox 360 Guide button to keep track of your friends, access your games and media, or power on and off your Xbox 360 console

Forget wires this is the new way of gaming!

                        Thanks for reading!
