Advantages: Allows you to sit further away from the console in a more comfortable position

Disadvantages: Batteries can go quickly

The last console i owned before this one was a PlayStation 2 so i was used to being within a metre range of the console and being fixed in that position for most of the day. It never really crossed my mind as being a negative aspect of gaming as then all console controllers were connected via a wire.

Fast forward a few years and i get myself an XBOX 360. Imagine my delight when i find out they come with wireless pads, big deal you say? Well not for me, it means i can stay in bed whilst playing my xbox console which is way over the other side of the room. I had tried this before with the old PS2 and never pulled the thing out of the plug sockets.

Anyhow, the controller seems to have a pretty long range, i've not tried to go any further than maybe 12 feet away but that seems fine. Also even with objects in the way or when you are not facing the controller directly at the console it still works.

The console itself is pretty lightweight and all the buttons are easy to press from a fixed hand position. The use of multi coloured buttons allows you to memorise which is which and then press them with little conscious effort therefore making for fast game place. The analogue and regular control sticks make for a optional choice in game play. Some people prefer the old up,down, left, right buttons, so the controller is inclusive for all gamers. The shape and symettry of the controller makes for easy handling and comfortable gaming even after many hours.

The only negative thing i can find to say is that they don't come equipped with battery packs and although they have a built in economic feature which makes them switch off onto stand by if the user does not use the contriller within a half hour. But they batteries can stick go fast. You can buy a battery charger but that is more money and i imagine will effect the weight of the controller.

Summary: Why didn't they think of this earlier
