Advantages: Good build quality
Disadvantages: A little expensive
I got two of these when i first got an xbox 360 console and 5 years on with severe wear and tear they are still working, and have no mechanical faults. They cost a fair amount of money at £40 each but they do have some great durability. The only problem i can think of is the battery consumption, i had to buy a play and charge kit for these because after a week of good use the batteries are dead and need replacing with two more AA's, battery bills will go up without the kit.
They are very comfortable to use, sweaty hands can get good grip because the plastic is not 100% smooth, but since the triggers are very glossy and smooth, you can slip off those. Gun based games like call of duty require excessive use of the triggers and this can be annoying. The response time is perfect, even from a long distance, the second you put your finger down on a button, it will react on the screen, no lag issues. Range is about 5-8m deoending what you have between you and the console. If its a wall it wont register at all but thinner and smaller things like plastic sheets will be no problem.
The controller is easy to use and set up, you need to link (pair) the controller with a console so it remembers where to connect next time you switch it on. This can be done just by holding down the ))) buton on the console and the top of the controller. A manual is given in multiple languages to help you set up and even gives you a quick health and safety warning.
The controller is very chunky, but not too heavy and has an audio port on the front to use a headset and simple keypad.
My D-Pad now sticks, the rubber on the RS buttons has completely come off, the triggers are squeaky, two little black boxes have come off the board and are now rattling around on the components inside the controller and the buttons are very loose but for 5 years of hard work this has prooven very durable and what i believe to be the best built microsoft product. They are clearly making a serious profit on this but it will last a lifetime.
Summary: Easy to use and very comfortable, better than the PS3 one.
