Advantages: Fairly simple layout, decent motion sensing.
Disadvantages: Syncing controller can be a pain, motion sensing isn't the best out there.
Well when i first used the Playstation Move controller, it instantly reminded me of the Wii Remote.
For a start there is a button on the front of the controller, which is pretty much used as a 'confirm' button, and there is also a trigger button on the back, unlike the Wii Remote trigger, it appears to be sensitive.
The Wii Remote has an assortment of other buttons, which helps the user to still press buttons when he has to hold the Wii Remote in different positions. The 'A' button is often replaced with the '+' button when the controller is held in different positions. Aside from the buttons already mentioned, there is the '-' button, often used in the place of the 'B' trigger on the back of the controller when a different position is used. There is the 'Home' button, a similar function to the Xbox Guide button on the 360 controller and the PS button on the PS3 controller. There are also buttons labelled 1 and 2, which very often also take the place of A and B buttons, especially when the controller is positioned on its side.
Well the whole point of the Wii Remote is its motion sensor, otherwise its just a very unattractive rectangle with which you control a very underpowered gaming system! The Wii Remote's accuracy was praised at its launch, it was the first motion controller to hit the major market, although it only allowed for basic controls, such as playing tennis etc. Unfortunately now, with the release of the Playstation Move, everyone can see that the Wii Remote is in fact, a fairly unaccurate motion controller, even with the help of Wii Motion Plus it cannot compete with the Move. I don't even own a Move controller and yet i can say that its much better than the Wii one. (I have used the Move by the way, i'm not totally uninformed. ;))
So really, the best part of the Wii Remote is probably its price, you can pick it up for about £20, which is half the price of the Move controller, and as the Wii can track up to 4 Wii Remotes and 4 Nunchuks at once, it makes it much more a family controller than the Move. As the PS3 can either track 4 Move Controllers and 0 Sub controllers, or 2 Move and 2 Sub, meaning games requiring the Sony's version of the Nunchuk, are 2 player only. (Games such as LittleBigPlanet 2 will presumably be 2 player only, if you use a Move controller.)
So the Wii remote beats the Move at both price and family fun, but it loses it at the hardcore part of the device, the motion sensors. Although Nintendo has never been about the Hardcore part of things. Nintendo usually produce the least powerful consoles, and yet still manage to sell millions, i mean, why do we love the Wii? Its less powerful, less graphical, not as many quality games on it, many game series aren't on it, it doesn't have good online play on all of its titles, it has virtually no online service, no hard drive, it cannot download game patches so games like Midnight Club LA and Burnout Paradise are impossibilities.
Basically we love it because its the only console our 50 year old parents can understand and get used to playing in minutes. The Wii remote follows the same vein as the console, its not really top of its class, but its dead easy to understand! Oh apart from trying to sync the controller... the Xbox 360 is still the best at that! But instead of having 10 buttons that you MUST know in order to navigate to the play button, the Wii Remote has 3 that, once you know, will let you play any game there is!
Summary: A decent controller, definitely the simplest out there. Anyone should grasp the basics instantly.
