The wii balance board was released originally as an accessory for users to play on the wii fit, this is the package that I received. Since its release Nintendo have also created other games that the balance board can be used with in order to make this a more versatile accessory.


**Design**

The design of the board is pretty basic in its appearance. It is shaped like a rectangle which measures approximately 50 cm by 30cm. I have found the size to be just right in order for the user to feel comfortable during game play as you are given plenty of space to stand on the board and move around with the game.

The board is flat and does not move during game play due to the little feet that are on the bottom of the board. It is recommended that you only use the balance board on a hard surface or a thin carpet otherwise it will not operate correctly. I have used this board on a rug and it seems to work fine but it is understandable that using the balance board whilst it is sat on a cushion that it is not going to work.

The board itself is white in colour and so can get a bit grubby. In order to clean it I have found that a quick wipe down with a damp cloth, polish or a wet wipe does the job.

**Using the board**

The board operates with four AA batteries which are supposed to give the board power for about 60 hours. I have not personally times how long the batteries have lasted but I can say that they do last a long time. I use rechargeable batteries in mine so that when they do run out I can give them a quick charge and then they are ready to go again.

In order to sync the balance board with your wii you simply press the button which is located on the back, easy as pie.

During game play I have found that the balance board is very accurate. It reads my movements very well and can calculate other aspects of my body such as my weight exactly.


**Price and availability**

Strangely it costs more to buy the wii balance board on its own that with the wii fit on some websites. The bundle with the game and board costs around £30 which I think is a complete bargain considering when I first got the bundle it was around £70-£80.

**Conclusion**

I really enjoy using the wii balance board. I think it is very well designed and provides a different gaming experience as well as a fun exercise experience. This one deserves the full 5 stars.
