The nintendo wii zapper came as a "freebie" when we bought the Legend of Zelda game and is another "added fun" accessory from nintendo for the wii. The zapper is very easy to use but you do need to have a nunchuck as well as the controller to be able to use this. The remote fits into the end of the controller and the nunchuck in the part that you hold mainly in your hand, feeding the wire from the nunchuck to the controller was fun the first time as you don't really get any instructions on how to do this but once you have done it once its very easy to use. The zapper has a "trigger" button which contects to the ... Read the complete review

I am a big fan of the Nintendo Wii and love getting new, different games for it so was quite excited when I got a Wii Zapper to play certain games with. I actually bought the game Link's Crossbow Training and got a zapper with the game which was great and a really good bargain and I'm glad I did because it's a fantastic little addition to the Wii. According to Nintendo it, "allows for more diverse play styles." The idea for the Wii zapper first came about right at the beginning of the Wii itself but it took until the 25th October 2007 before one was released in Japan and November 19th 2007 in the USA and December 7th 2007 in ... The genius of the Wii Remote is that is can be used in so many different ways, and at very little extra cost. For example, console light gun games in the past not only required you to buy the peripheral itself, but then the games had to be made with it specifically in mind for the gun to work. Whereas with the Wii Zapper, all you need is a comfortable grip on the remote, and you are sorted. However, £20 would be a bit steep if you were just getting the plastic holder itself, so Nintendo have kindly included a small game to help you get to grips with it. The Zapper At first, you would be forgiven for thinking that all you are getting is a bit of plastic ... Read the complete review

There are a few gun holders for the Wii (I call them holders because the Zapper only holds the Wiimote rather than being a self-contained controller like you find for other platforms). And of all the choices the Wii Zapper is definitely the oddest looking. It reminds me more of something out of a Space 1999 episode than anything resembling a gun. So I must admit I bought the Zapper because of the included game Link's Crossbow Training, which is a spruced up target practice based on the Zelda games. But I've found it was a £20 worth spending. The Zapper itself is nothing more than a few ounces of plastic, hardly worth £20 by itself. The Wiimote pops into a slot ... Read the complete review

If you are old enough to have grown up when the NES was the games console of choice, then you might just remember a piece of orange and grey plastic known as the zapper. The zapper was, in 1980s parlance, a "light gun"; a new concept in video gaming that used a gun-shaped controller for shooting games by enabling you to point your zapper at the screen and pull the trigger to hit targets. It was designed to look like a science fiction style "ray gun" and it was brilliant, just like having an arcade game in your own living room. While I was never lucky enough to own one (although I did have a temperamental light gun for my Spectrum around the same time) ... Read the complete review
