Nintendo wii wheel isn't a requirement for playing the driving games on the wii as you can just turn the controller so that it sits in you hand length ways and use it that way as you still have to press the same buttons to be able to play the games. However, the wii wheel does add the "driving experience" element to the games and makes it a bit more fun especially for young children as they can make believe that they are really driving mario's kart or something similar.

The wheel itself is quite substantial and the remote does fit in very easily into the space provided which makes using the buttons on the controller very easy however, when having to use the controller to select different aspects before actually starting the game we have found that you have to turn it so that the controller is the right way up to be able to select them rather than leaving it sideways as you do when playing the game.

They are reasonably priced for what they are if you look around and do add that little "fun" element to the game but they are not perfect and you may prefer to save yourself some money and just turn the controller on its side to play.
