Advantages: Very fun, Works well, Not too expensive online, Good quality

Disadvantages: B button is pressed when you lay it down, Strap limited to right wrist only

This was pretty much a necessary buy for the Wii when we got Mario Kart. It is advertised on the television all the time with the Wii as you see people having fun racing with it. It's quite a good idea and works really well, making the game a lot more fun to play.

The Wii Remote fits in the wheel very well and you can access all the buttons on the front as well as the back B button. The strap fitted to the remote also slides through if you position it correctly when putting it in. It's still advised that you put your wrist through this strap whilst playing just for safety but it can be quite annoying! The way the wheel is designed, the strap will always fit on your right wrist whether you like it or not.

The wheel is white and plastic but doesn't look that cheap. It comes in a simple white and blue Wii style box in good packaging. The design makes it look like a proper steering wheel due to the outer circle with a 3 spoke inner part.

The wheel takes a bit of getting used to whilst playing Mario Kart. You are also required to pull off certain movements to do tricks, such as jolting the whole wheel to one side. You should relax and try to turn the wheel like a normal steering wheel rather than moving it forth and backwards or anything else.

This wheel makes the Mario Kart game a lot more realistic, despite the fact it's an animated Mario game. One problem I found is that if you place down the wheel with the Wii Remote in it, the B button is sometimes pressed as it sticks out underneath, which causes you to fly back through menus as it acts as a 'back/cancel' button. Apart from this, which you must be aware of, it all works very well.

The wheel is priced at £9.45 on Amazon.co.uk for the official Nintendo one that I'd recommend - be aware there are other makes out there too, which may be cheaper but not as good. The RRP is an amazing £25, which is quite expensive so don't buy it for more than you can get it for online! It's not too expensive because all the technology is already in the Wii Remote, which is not included. This is where the movement sensors are, which will cause the game to respond as you turn the wheel, which is designed to suit the movement sensors in the remote. I'd certainly recommend trying this if you have Mario Kart - it's a lot more fun to play with!

Thanks for reading!

:)

Summary: A good addition for your Wii, for use with Mario Kart
