Well, i got this wheel yesterday and well what can i say. I ordered it from amazon.co.uk for 49.99 and that qualified for free delivery so that was great. When it arrived the Box was large and well padded to protect the wheel and pedals. When i first pulled the wheel out of the box it is very clear on where to plug everything plugs in to. The Set contains:
- 1 Saitek R660 Force Feedback Wheel
- 1 Set of Saitek real feel pedals
- 1 AC adapter
-- Build Quality --
This wheel is incredibly sturdy and made from very high quality plastic, although i don't want to make a false impression there as most people think of plastic being weak and nasty, this is the opposite. I would compare this wheel in build quality with or even above a logitech momo. The pedals are also of a high quality , but, They are VERY light and VERY easy to push down and forget that you are doing it for example, i was playing 'Rfactor' and wondering why my throttle was jammed when i realized my foot was slightly depressing the pedal. Although after a day of playing i have found that i am getting used to it and that means they are highly responsive.
-- The Feel --
The Force Feedback really puts you there in the the car you can feel as the car slips in and out of grip around hills, feel as the car begins to shake as you go over the rumble strips, its amazing. Using " Immersion's patented force feedback technology" you will not fail to have a great sim-racing experience.
-- Ease of use --
Very easy to set up all very self explanatory. If you get stuck with anything though just take a quick look at the user manual located on the driver and software disc provided. The wheel does of course come with a shifter and that is easily swapped from right to left just by pulling it out and popping it in the hole on the other side. The most fiddly part for me was the clamp as it comes unattached from the wheel once it is on though it provides a solid as rock hold.
-- Price/Performance --
The Saitek R660 will not be beat here. I find it just as good as logitechs tripple price wheels and i don't see the point as this wheel is so much cheaper yet just as good!
-- OVERALL --
ohh the important one eh? well. its fantastic if you are looking for a great wheel look at this one, im so glad i bought this
Shift gear and put the pedal to the metal with the R660GT Force Feedback Wheel. Immersions patented force feedback technology lets you feel the crashes, shunts, changes in road surface and tyre grip through the wheel. The R660GT Force Feedback Wheel gives you the racing advantage, making your laps faster and faster.
Catering for both left-and right-handed drivers, a semi-automatic gear shift lever can be mounted either side of the wheel; for those of you who prefer a paddle shift, there are also two gear shift paddles. With four buttons on the front of the wheel as well, all the controls are right where you need them.
Unlike other force feedback wheels, the R660GT will stay where you need it to. A soft touch grip ensures that the wheel wont slip through your fingers and a strong G-clamp keeps the wheel rooted to the desk, even in the heat of a race.
Control setup is also well covered by the wheels driver: set your pedals to work independently of each other or combined, to suit different games or your driving style.
With the R660GT Force Feedback Wheel, unscheduled pitstops should be a thing of the past.
