The sony eye toy was a bit of kit I had with a game that I think was fun to play as a group when having friends around or at family parties etc. I remember when we all had a great laugh washing windows and dodging ninjas when we used the eye toy and it was great fun .

The eye toy is a camera that you put on top of your tv and use it. The camera is smaller than your palm and can be put in place on a lot of tvs but if yours is a skinny or slim tv then you might have a bit of a problem. The eye toy is wired and has a usb connector that is easy to set up.

You can stick the eye toy camera in place with a sticky pad to keep it there but we didn't want to do that and used a bit of blue tak when we played using the eye toy. That worked ok and when we put away the eye toy it was easy to do and left no mess on the top of the tv.


The eye toy works because it detects your movement and the game you are playing responds to that. I think that it works fine and I was amazed with how accurate the camera was when I was flinging my arms about karate chopping flying ninjas etc. You can see yourself on the screen at the same time and that was a good bit of fun.

The camera picked up almost all my moves and the games I played on this worked a treat. I don't think there was much of a time lapse between me moving and the game reacting. I think that was very good for such a small camera that you plonk on top of your telly.

The camera was easy to set up and use and took only a few minutes to put in place when it was first used. It is small enough to leave in place if you want but I put it away when it was not being used.


You can pick these eye toy cameras up on their own for about £7 now and you will need to get a game or two to go with it. Games can be cheap depending on what you are going for and some games are better than others.

When you use the eye toy you don't need an additional controller to play the game. Its like you become the controller with the help of the eye toy and I think thats pretty cool. I would recommend the eye toy for use at parties etc because it brings people together for a bit of a laugh.
