Introduction --------------- Advance Wars, is a game released in 2001 exclusively on the Gameboy Advance. It is the first in a series of strategy, turn based, war games released by Nintendo. The game is based around a fictional land named Macro land which is under threat from a destructive force known as the Black Hole. The Black Hole Army are led by the evil tyrant Sturmm, who through a series of mind games and sheer firepower proves to be a formidable enemy. In this game you initially play the role of Andy who is the Commanding officer (CO) of Orange Star, a peaceful nation who set out to liberate Macroland from evil invading forces. ... On to the GBA comes a game not overloaded by Go-Karts, not jammed with things jumping onto different platforms but instead good old War. Ok, war isn’t all that great, but when it resembles something more like toy soldiers then it’s ok. Advance Wars is probably the first Real-time Strategy to work on a handheld system. In the past we’ve seen them take PC gamers onto the internet for some classic online gaming, and the thing which separates this genre from the rest? Well, it’s that in this type of game you have to use your head more then in any other game, it’s all about tactics. So, for the less more able of us out there this game ... Read the complete review

Advance Wars is a little known title for the Game Boy Advance in that it has no big licence and no marketing but quite simply this is the BEST game money can buy for this little machine. This is not for lack of competition a la Mario Kart and Golden Sun but in that it is superb right from the very start and would contend with even the big console games. You may have a CameCube, Xbox or PS2 but get this game and I guarantee it will be this game that you are playing more often than not. The game starts with an intuitive and enjoyable Field Training section that eases you into some of the subtleties of the game that you will only master after extensive play but are ... "Advance Wars" is a video game released for the Gameboy Advance in 2002 by Nintendo. It is a turn based strategy game with a military focus. In the United States, the game received a rating of "E" by the ESRB panel which deemed it suitable for all ages. Advance Wars broke new ground at the time of its release. The idea of turn based strategy games is not one which really saw much success in any application for any platform, but was released with considerable success after some initial lag. It wasn't until critics gave the game blinding reviews that its popularity skyrocketed and the game accumulated a diverse userbase. The game itself is a ... Read the complete review
