Advantages: Tactical play unrivalled by other titles on the platform, fun and challenging.

Disadvantages: Taxes the brain to the point you might want to play something a little more casual.

Advance Wars has a lengthy history. And its GBA incarnation is a truely fantastic additon to it.
It's turn-based strategy with highly stylised graphics and endearing characters really make it stand out as a GBA game. Very different from the platform-hopping, widget grabbing lines of games that almost overrun the format.

This incarnation doesnt have quite the variety of units and Commanding Officers (COs) that its sequals have but the strategy and storyline and the challenges the single player poses are every bit as good as the later versions. In fact, as it is slightly more ridged than for example Advance Wars: Dual strike you must often be an even more astute tactician as there is often very little room for error. But thanks it it being turn based, you have all the time in the world to plan your movements and operations, really allowing you to get your warmongering brain in-gear.

Hot-Steat multiplayer is the icing on the cake, load up your SP and ruin the party atmosphere by getting 3 of ya mates hooked completely.

Perhaps the most playable and involving title released for the GBA.

Summary: Turn Based action only rivalled by its sequals on other formats, a true classic.
