Chu Chu Rocket for the Gameboy Advance was on of the first games sega released on consoles other then their own. After the discontinuation of the failed console dreamcast sega started releasing there games on other consoles. Chu Chu Rocket is a game where you direct mice to a rocket on a top down board and help them avoid space cats. This game is almost a direct port of the original version which was released on the dreamcast.

In Chu Chu Rocket your goal is to guide packs of mice to escape a level as quickly as possible whilst avoiding patrolling cats. If these cats catch your mice then they will eat them lowering the amount of mice you can get to the exit. You view the game from above which is helpful to see everything at once. Your job is to place tiles that make the mice change direction. These tiles can also be used to direct the cats. The cats move slower than the mice.

There are two modes in Chu Chu Rocket. Single-Player Puzzle Mode and Battle Mode which can be played by up to four players with four gameboy advances but only 1 game is needed. The single player mode is challenging and boasts over 2000 puzzles all of varying difficulty. Each puzzle giving you a limited amount of directional tiles. If somehow you get through all 2000 puzzles then theres even a simple editor to make your own puzzles and you can even send these puzzles to your friends.

In Battle mode you can place as many tiles as you wish whilst mice pour in from one or multiple entrances. The goal is to get as many mice into the rocket as you can in the time limit. Meanwhile 3 opponents either computer or human controlled are all trying to do the same. The game also has a 2 vs 2 battle mode. This mode is extremley fast paced with random powerups appearing and cats wondering aimlessly with 4 players spamming directional tiles all at once but after you get used to it this mode is a real blast.

Another interesting feature added is the ability to draw your own cats/mice and animate them to be used instead of the ones that are featured originally in the game. The game has a fairly upbeat soundtrack though it gets repetitive fairly quickly. Though its the addictive gameplay that will realy get you hooked on this game.
