"Magical Quest 2" is a video game released for the Gameboy Advance console in 2003 by Capcom. It is a sequel to a port of the original "Magical Quest" released earlier. In the United States, the game received a rating of "E" by the ESRB panel which deemed it suitable for all ages.

The gameplay of this title revolves around acquiring special costumes which are awarded for successful completion of the in game worlds. Players play as Mickey or Minnie Mouse and guide them through six worlds of platform stages which culminate with two short boss battles. This is very similar to the original Magical Quest wherein costumes were required for further progression in the game. In this release, the player has access to a vacuum outfit which sucks in enemies at a close up distance, hiking gear to ascend up steep slopes and a cowboy outfit which comes complete with a small pistol. Obviously this grants the player certain distinctions which prove beneficial in certain areas. Their use is, however, not often necessary. The game is very easy in terms of difficulty and even without the use of costumes throughout can be completed with relative ease. While there are an abundance of game stages I was not met with any real difficult spots and could complete the game without being challenged.

The graphics are presented from a side perspective which focuses on the player's character. Both Mickey and Minnie mouse are very well animated and showcase their typical respective attire. An interesting feature which I liked was that both Mickey and Minnie have a large grin throughout play which added a definite "cute" factor. The soundtrack compliments this sense of perceived happiness with upbeat and lively musical scores and high pitched sound effects when making use of various actions.

Overall, Magical Quest 2 would likely appeal to a younger audience due to the lack of difficulty in gameplay. It is an acceptable title overall but would not likely see much success with an older audience unless the preference is for simple and quick play.

Summary: Thumbs in the middle
