"Dr. Sudoku" is a video game released for the Gameboy Advance console in 2006 by Mastiff. It is a puzzle game based on the popular Sudoku game. In the United States, the game received a rating of "E" by the ESRB panel which deemed it suitable for all ages.

Sudoku is a game of logic which features an overall 9x9 grid which houses nine 3x3 blocks. The player is required to fill blank spaces using the digits 1 through 9 only once. I find it to be very difficult in practice but there are many who breeze through the game in time for seconds. For newcomers to the game, Dr Sudoku features a tutorial mode to teach the player the rules of the game. The game is also easy in delivery as, when selecting a number by using the directional arrows, certain squares will illuminate to suggest where the number could be placed. It does simplify the game greatly but can prove itself to be too easy for veteran players. These cues can be disabled at the players discretion to up the challenge. The cartridge features over 1,000 puzzles and has a puzzle builder option where players can create their own grid which would keep even the most savvy player occupied for a considerable amount of time.

The graphics are presented from a top down perspective which focuses on the overall grid. In general, the graphics are confined to black lines and tan coloured numbers. They are far from beautiful cinematic treats but are functional in their delivery; it is easy to distinguish between the digits. The soundtrack is of a similar basic nature and features quieter musical scores which loop throughout play.

Overall, Dr. Sudoku effectively "does what it says on the tin" by providing the player with a handheld Sudoku video game. It would appeal to fans of the game itself or general puzzles but would not likely reach a wider market outside of this.
