If there is ONE game you get this month for the Gameboy advance make it Final Fight One. The arcade port is almost perfect only loosing little effects like the flickering lights in the first level. One thing lacking from some of th other ports like Rayman was the lack of 'fun' and 'playability the game had. To tell it like it is Final Fight is awsome!

Old fans of Streets of Rage will love this game, as will anyone else looking for a gba game to pass the time. You start off with three characters - Haggar, Cody and Guy, each of them has their own special abilities. Haggar is strong and has good throws, Cody is average but has the ability to hold a knife for long periods of time and Guy is weak but very, very fast which is very handy when you’re surrounded. There’s also a special move by pressing the R button or the A&B buttons simultaneously which basically knocks down everyone and everything surrounding you although this does take away a bit of you health, which means you should only use it when cornered.

There are about seven levels but this isn't an easy game, you start with 6 lives and these go very quickly so you need to learn strategies to deal with multiple characters surrounding you in order to keep as much health as possible. Up to six people can crowd the screen at one time from what I've noticed, and when you are surrounded by 5 huge guys it can make you just that little bit tense. The graphics are arcade perfect, I've noticed little change from the older versions and they do make the game more enjoyable to play. The game has the typical save the kidnapped girl plot with the three characters having different connections/relationships with her.

Another aspect to add to the re-playability is the battle points mode, it counts up how many people you've defeated and gives you secrets like secret characters (i've found two so far) and bonus features like a level select and the opportunity t
o start with more lives. The levels are linear though that’s a good thing considering that this is classic ‘old skool’ action. There are different weapons in the game from poles to swords to knives, which adds to the enjoyment of the experience. One good thing that I found out is that when you switch the GBA off mid-game you can continue with the level you were initially on.

So far the is my favourite GBA game I have bought, it beats Mario Kart in terms of fun and is miles better than the majority of other platformers out there. I does not get repetitive even though it would seem so but I’m sure after a month or so of constant play would make it slightly boring but overall this a worthy purchase for anyone with a GBA.
