... now known as retro gaming. Old franchises such as The Legend of Zelda, Sonic The Hedgehog and Super Mario were given the chance to revisit their 2D roots by being released on the GBA console, giving them a needed break from their rapidly rising 3D fame. Is the Gameboy Advance worth it? The Gameboy Advance for me is the definitive handheld console. I still have my regular Gba and my GBA SP and adore both of them. There is a huge range of games to choose from such as vintage style RPG's and even old classics that w...more

Ah, it arrived without fail and not a pre-order fiasco in sight. Yes Nintendo have gotten it right again, a mere 10 years on from the original Game Boy arrives one of the hottest pieces of gaming hardware money can buy. The Game Boy Advance has arrived. I never bothered with the original handheld superstar console, although it seems as though well over 120million of you did! Home to thousands of games the GB and Game Boy Colour showed us that you don’t need millions of polygons to make superb games. Many a time I would pick up a friend Game Boy with Tetris in and stay contented for a good few hours, possibly days. The fact that the least complicated games ...  Read the complete review

I have been looking forward to the release of the Game Boy Advance (finally released on the 22nd June) for a long time, so I decided to experience that nervous thrill of spending lots of money I don't have, and the acid-taste nauseous fear of my next credit card bill. So was it worth it? Well, the four stars above show that I'm happy with my purchase. But you know me, I'm not happy til I've written two thousand words on the subject. So here is a detailed and realistic review of the Game Boy Advance. Size ----- The Game Boy series has constantly impressed people with its diminutive dimensions and its ability to be genuinely ...  Read the complete review

Well firstly please accept my apologies for that title; I just cannot get that tune out of my head. I thought by maybe getting it down on paper (well the electronic alternative) I may get rid. Although do I really want to? It’s a good tune, strange, but still good. Anyway, “starsailor” may feature in a later opinion. Where was I? Oh yes, better start the opinion. First of all, a little bit of background information on the GBA. GBA = Gameboy (Side note: I may write to Microsoft, asking them to include “Gameboy” in to their dictionary, spelling mistake, I think not”) Advance. The name for Nintendo’s new handheld ...  Read the complete review

Ah... the Game Boy Advance - now there's a blast from the past. To be honest, before I read a review on one of these around twenty minutes ago, I had forgotten that it was a product which I actually owned. After the original Game Boy took the world of video-gaming by storm due its portability, it wasn't until 2001 that Nintendo decided to release a more powerful version of the handheld machine. The Advance (from here on in known as the 'GBA)' had a 32-bit CPU, which easy outclassed the original Game Boy's 8-bit engine. This meant that both graphics and sound were significantly improved with this model. I remember purchasing the GBA when it was first ...  Read the complete review

Game Boy Advance in General (GBA): Pocket one of these! (673 words)

Portable gaming has been taken to a new level thanks to this little feller. Small and light with a wide range of title available, but that's not all this baby can do! The gameboy advance is one mean console. Its 32-bit display provides excellent graphics for on when you're on the move and its wide range of features makes it an ideal purchase as a present for kids or grown-ups. The gameboy advance comes in a wide range of colours, including lilac, white, pink, purple and more recently orange, black and silver. The gameboy advance has a total of 4 buttons for game play, start/select buttons and a conventional control pad for movements. The sound ...  Read the complete review
