Game Boy Advance in General (GBA)

The graphics were good (for the time) and whilst not being anything like as polished as those featured on the original Playstation (which was also 32-bit), they were better than anything which had previously been seen on a hand-held console. The Game Boy Advance's main weakness was its screen. Not because it wasn't clear, but because of its darkness. Nowadays we have come to expect handhelds to feature backlit ...more

Crowned Review Game Boy Advance in General (GBA): Glorious Brilliant Amazing (1753 words)

Can Nintendo really make a SNES quality games console that fits in your hand? Can its games really challenge those of the Playstation? Can they offer it in 4 different colours with a multitude of cool accessories? Of course they can, they're Nintendo, and their latest little marvel is the Game boy Advance. This little beauty, hyped up for months before its release, was destined to outsell its predecessors in its first two weeks on the shelves, provide amazing 3D games, with full colour, and be able to fit in our pockets. And it certainly lives up to this destiny. The Game Boy Advance, now available, is ...  Read the complete review

Is this the SNES reincarnated in a portable and super slick new shell? Can the newest incarnation of the Game Boy stand up and fight of all that stands before it? Can the games compete against the newest in the ’next generation’ consoles? Well anyhoo meet the newest Nintendo creation…The Game Boy Advance. The hype surrounding the release of the latest in hand held technology suggested this would be a huge success. But can it out do it predecessor all 4, or however many there are of them? Over 120 million of the original Game boys, (including GB pocket, colour and all them!) were sold over the last 10 years. In that figure included me ...  Read the complete review

Ah, it arrived without fail and not a pre-order fiasco in sight. Yes Nintendo have gotten it right again, a mere 10 years on from the original Game Boy arrives one of the hottest pieces of gaming hardware money can buy. The Game Boy Advance has arrived. I never bothered with the original handheld superstar console, although it seems as though well over 120million of you did! Home to thousands of games the GB and Game Boy Colour showed us that you don’t need millions of polygons to make superb games. Many a time I would pick up a friend Game Boy with Tetris in and stay contented for a good few hours, possibly days. The fact that the least complicated games ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review There's a party in my pants and everyone's invited. (2616 words)

I have been looking forward to the release of the Game Boy Advance (finally released on the 22nd June) for a long time, so I decided to experience that nervous thrill of spending lots of money I don't have, and the acid-taste nauseous fear of my next credit card bill. So was it worth it? Well, the four stars above show that I'm happy with my purchase. But you know me, I'm not happy til I've written two thousand words on the subject. So here is a detailed and realistic review of the Game Boy Advance. Size ----- The Game Boy series has constantly impressed people with its diminutive dimensions and its ability to be genuinely ...  Read the complete review

Well firstly please accept my apologies for that title; I just cannot get that tune out of my head. I thought by maybe getting it down on paper (well the electronic alternative) I may get rid. Although do I really want to? It’s a good tune, strange, but still good. Anyway, “starsailor” may feature in a later opinion. Where was I? Oh yes, better start the opinion. First of all, a little bit of background information on the GBA. GBA = Gameboy (Side note: I may write to Microsoft, asking them to include “Gameboy” in to their dictionary, spelling mistake, I think not”) Advance. The name for Nintendo’s new handheld ...  Read the complete review
