Advantages: size, good brand name and image

Disadvantages: screen, price, games

We got this on the day of release and were really excited but we were dissapointed.

One of the initial problems you come across is the extremely reflective screen that is very hard to play games with. The problems seem to lie with either the screen or the colours within the games. You would have expected Nintendo to have done their research and development properly, but it seems they haven't.

Another major problem is that the screen has only been made a centimetre larger than its predecessor. It is so small and hard to look at, that you will probably need glasses in a few years time. Then we can all look back and moan at Nintendo.
From newspaper reports I have read that Nintendo are planning to use a different screen manufacturer for the next batch of GBA's to be produced. So what are they going to do about the current unsatisfied customers who have been sold the rubbish models?

It is claimed that the Game Boy Advance has the same power, graphically as the PSOne. But this does not seem to be the case at all. From the current selection of games it seems that the GBA has the same power as Nintendo?s previous machines such as the SuperNintendo (SNES). It seems that they have just re-released the past collection of games including Super Mario (now re-named Mario Advance) and Mario Kart.
The half decent games are coming from third parties.

If you are planning on getting one, put it off for now. For when the price drops and the screen has been drastically improved upon. Instead of buying a GBA why not get the new portable PSOne. A screen has been released, which is significantly larger than the GBA's. A third party manufacturer for the PSOne screen has also included a portable TV, so that you do not miss your favourite soap on the move. Even though the Playstation will cost slightly more, it is definitely worth it, because of the library of 1,000's of games available at half the cost of GBA games.
