... have a lot of fun. Knowing exactly where everything is doesn't even dampen this, and that's even rarer. The Good: The storyline is amazing, the concept of djinn is an old one from mythology (I forget which culture, but it's been around) and is portrayed masterfully, the battling system is pretty good, and there are plenty puzzles and mini quests to undertake. Also, the characters and progression are worth it and almost MAKE you love them, even though you can't customise appearance and so on it doesn't seem to matte...more

I've never been a great fan of JRPGs. In fact, with the exception of the Pokémon franchise, I have largely gone out of my way to avoid them. So, it was with some apprehension that I took up a friend's suggestion (just a few weeks ago) that I finally play Golden Sun and experience "the best game the Game Boy Advance has to offer". How blind I had been to ignore both this genre and this game. Golden Sun is a superbly crafted, wonderfully challenging adventure through the world of alchemy which features both exciting gameplay, a well-formed narrative and one of the GBA's most exquisite soundtracks. Well ok RPG's are pretty common on Nintendo machines but they are very rarely of good quality. Possibly the last good one that was made for a Nintendo console was Zelda: Ocriana of Time for the N64 and thats quite a while. But hey look at this - a fun little game for a fun little GBA, who woulda thunk it? Golden Sun was developed by Camelot who are responsible for the ever popular Mario Tennis so we're off to a good start already. The plots pretty standard stuff though. Good vs Evil... blah blah... save the world, sorry universe... blah blah collect the magical orbs etc. But when was the last time since Final Fantasy 7 that you had a well plotted ...
