Advantages: Entertaining for beginners and experts.
Disadvantages: Leaves no time for housework.
I bought my son a Gameboy Advance for his birthday in August, because he wanted to be play "better" games than he could on his Gameboy Colour. Only we found he wasn't interested in playing any of the advance games and continued to play nothing but Pokemon gold and silver, the music was driving us a little bit crazy. So we pre-ordered Mario Kart Super Circuit, and sanity has returned to the household. We are now spared the tinkly tune as Ash plods around Pallet Town, as he loves this new racing game. A new twist, is that I actually enjoy playing it as well! I secretly while away the odd hour or two while he is at school. The game.. Basically you choose a character from a choice of eight and then race against the other seven. Characters.. The characters perform differently, varying in speed and weight, and you find the best character for your driving style and the track. All the usual characters are there. Lightweight Class, Yoshi, Toad and Peach. Middleweight Class, Luigi and Mario. Heavyweight Class, Bowser, Donkey Kong and Wario. Engine Class.. You also choose an engine class from 50cc to 150cc, the 50cc is easier for beginners like me. Games and Tracks.. You also have a choice of playing a grand prix, which is 3 laps of 4 tracks there are 5 grand prix cup games to choose from. There are also a Time Trial, Quick Run and multiplayer games to play. The multiplayer games are played with link cables. Items.. Whilst racing round you can pick up items to boost your own speed or scupper your opponents. A mushroom will give you a short burst of speed, whereas a red shell will hunt down the kart in front and make it crash. There are 10 different items, that appear in the item boxes at random. Playability.. What is good about this game is that it's easy enough for a mum to have some success, but still difficult enough for my expert son to be entertained for ho
urs on end. There is good variation in difficulty by choosing different circuits and characters and playing against friend with the multiplayer option. I have tried playing the N64 version of this game, I think it's easier and better on the Advance. My favourite character is still Peach as she is the only girl. Price.. We pre-ordered from WH Smith on-line and paid £27.99, I have seen it priced at up to £34.99. I would recommend this as a good buy, your child will love it and so will you.
