Sonic Advance (GBA) ... Sonic Team, Sonic Advance is a completely original product that expands upon an existing design. It takes themes and ideas established in the original Sonic the Hedgehog series on the Sega Genesis, all the while adding new elements brought up in his newer adventures on the Dreamcast. Sonic Advance is a strict side-scrolling platformer that moves through more than twelve different levels in six separate environments. The first couple of levels are pretty much laid-out so that Sonic can stretch his furry legs to see what he's made of, since there are tons of straight-aways, corkscrews, jumps, springs to push our hero into his hyper speed. The task is a simple matter of getting to the end of the round unscathed. Take a hit, and any rings that Sonic's collected along the way explodes out of his grip...as long as he holds onto one ring, he'll survive any hit from an enemy.

The game takes place in zones and now is more forgiving as you can continue from any zone you got to instead of having to restart from the beginning. Although you have 4 characters the zones they tak...more

Sonic Advance is a platforming game for the Nintendo Gameboy Advance developed by Sega. The story follows the Sonic crew, Sonic his friend Tails, Knuckles the Echidna and Amy Rose as they attempt to recover the chaos emeralds and thwart the evil Doctor Eggmans devious schemes to take over the world once again! It's a paper thin plot and wont hook or engage you in anyway. There are four playable characters in this game each with their own unique abilities, first up is Sonic the Hedgehog he is speedy and agile and has a new roll move which he can use to defeat enemies, Knuckles the Echidna is slightly slower but makes up for it as he can use his ...  Read the complete review

The idea of the game is simple; the evil Scientist, Dr Eggman (Sonics enemy) has hatched another dastardly plot. He plans to build a Dr. Eggman empire by turning all the animals into robots. Command sonic and his friends as he dashes into action collecting rings through seven levels. Each level has two acts. At the end of the second act, you go against the boss, which is Dr. Eggman in some sort of robot. Despite its name, you can play as three other characters - Tails, Knuckles and Amy SONIC THE HEDGEHOG: Meant to be the world's fastest hedgehog. Probably the worlds most popular Hedgehog as well. He has no particular skills, although he goes fast. ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Sonic Advance (GBA): Sonic can run, but he can't hide... FROM ME! (1677 words)

Back in 2002, Sonic Advance was not only the first Sonic game to ever appear on a Nintendo console, it was also a welcome return to the blue hedgehog's 2D platforming roots. Sonic had been meandering around in 3D adventure games for too long, so it was nice to see him going back to what had made him famous. Available exclusively for the Gameboy Advance (GBA), it was promised as a brand new slice of platforming action, the evolution of earlier classics such as Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and Sonic & Knuckles. But its production was outsourced from the hands of the legendary Sonic Team and into those of Dimps - the people behind the Dragon Ball Z games - so, to be honest, its ...  Read the complete review
