... storyline remains basically the as with all the other Sonic games: The mad Dr. Eggman has hatched yet another plot to steal the Chaos Emeralds and use their power to takeover the world! Once again it is up to Sonic and his friends to put a stop to his plans. You can play either as Sonic (who uses his trademark spin dash to destroy items), Amy (who uses a hammer to deliver a powerful attack), Tails (who can fly, swim, use his tails to destroy his foes and use spin dash attack just like Sonic) and Knuckles (who can glide, climb...more

Sonic...on a Nintendo system, surely not but it has happened nonetheless and its a 2D platformer hailing back to the glory days of Sonic's MD titles. Guess what? Dr. 'Eggman' Robotnik has once again stolen the Chaos Emeralds and it's up to Sonic and friends to stop him. That's it as far as story goes, you control anyone of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles or Amy and attempt to stop Robotnik while collecting the Emeralds. All the characters have exactly the same stages unfortunately but each has different play styles, Sonic runs, Tails flies, Knuckles glides, Amy smashes stuff with her hammer. The characters abilities are more useful in the multiplayer ...  Read the complete review

(I know this is Sonic Advance but there is no Mario Advance 2 section and i've already done an opinion on Mario Advance (read it if you like) so this will have to do) My ever so slightly younger brother used to be the gamer in the household, I sat awe inspired at the games he played for hours on end. And then he turned to me ?Do you want to play? and with assistance by my brother I did, that game was Super Mario World. Still regarded as the greatest game ever I discover Nintendo are re-releasing it for the Gameboy advance and I ask why wasn?t it a launch title? Well this review is split into two halves one for those who have played the game and one for those ...  Read the complete review

Sonic the Hedgehog on a Nintendo console? 10 years ago, if I'd of said that to a hardcore gaming fanatic, they'd have laughed in my face, then gotten all of their geeky friends to beat me up with their braces. Now though, it's reality (Sonic on a Nintendo game, not the beating up story). Sonic has come out for the most hallowed of Consoles, The GameBoy Advance. ~ What’s it all about (Alfie) ~ Before Sonic, the now world famous Hedgehog, SEGA fans had to put up with people like Michael Jackson on the front of their SEGA boxes. Not cool. Not cool at all… It was hard enough for Sega to start with. Nintendo had a ...  Read the complete review

Back in the early 90’s when Nintendo and Sega were the last word in video gaming, two characters stood as proud mascots for both companies. Mario was the rotund plumber that featured in many a Nintendo game and Sonic was the sleek super fast Hedgehog that adorned Sega’s consoles. Total opposites in looks and attributes they nevertheless had a huge following with fans. Nintendo and Sega were the equivalent to today’s rivalry between Eastenders or Corrie or PC or Mac. Back then the simple idea of one mascot featuring on a rival console was both wishful thinking but a complete implausibility. It just wasn’t going to happen. Without ...  Read the complete review

For any fans of Sega's infamous mascot, this is a must game to play. Being their favourite mascots first outing on a Nintendo console, Sega seem to have taken extra care to make sure that his fans were not disappointed with this game. With all the elements that made Sonic's previous games a success, Sonic Advance blasts its way through all of its zones with super speed, with plenty of opportunities to grab rings, smash badniks, free animals and collect Chaos emeralds along the way. The storyline remains basically the as with all the other Sonic games: The mad Dr. Eggman has hatched yet another plot to steal the Chaos Emeralds and use their power to takeover the ..  Read the complete review
