This is a review on the classic game Super Mario World, but it has been spiced up, for the Gameboy Advance, as now it is one of the Super Mario Advance games. It is known on the Gameboy Advance as Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World.

I first played Super Mario World on the SNES; it was the SNES’s best game that was made for it. It is all about Mario and Luigi’s journey to stop Bowser. There are many levels, and it’s a very big game, considering it use to be on the SNES, that’s pretty impressive. Super Mario World allows you to travel around the world of Mario. You start off on Yoshi Island, where you live, and you have been summoned to stop Bowser once and for all.

There are 2 game modes for this game, there’s the map, and then there’s the Platform mode, where you would go around like in a normal Mario game. The map is very good, and very original. The map allows you to move around the map. You can only move around on the levels that you have completed and the ones that are in range for you to adventure to. All of the levels are connected by a line on the map, so you know which way you can go, and which levels are connected to what. Water levels are connected by dotted lines, so you know that you will probably be swimming.

In the game there will be regular levels, which you will just need to get to the end of it to complete it. Then there are castles, which you will normally get at the end of the island, there are many castles, which will have a boss at the end of it which you will need to defeat to win the level. There are also Ghost Houses, which are haunted levels, which will mean that there will need some strategy for this, and you will need to prepare for ghosts, that can hurt you, which you can’t hurt them.

You will be able to tell the difference between which levels are which by the icon that you mini Mario lands on when you move around. The yellow circles means that it’s a regular level, you will just need to get to the end of the map. The red circles means that there is two endings to it, depending which one you do, is depending which level you unlock. The castles you will notice by seeing a mini castle on the map.

There are these special box levels, which when you get to the end, you will be able to walk on these certain boxes within the level. Those levels are easy to do, but sometimes hard to find, you will get loads of coins while doing it, as the level has loads of coins just scattered.

If you don’t know who Mario is, then you need to get with the old times. Mario is an Italian fat man, who has a freaky voice and has a big moustache. He has a friendly brother called Luigi, whom is like Mario, but thin and taller. Mario dresses in red, and Luigi dresses in green, so you can tell the difference between them if you saw them.

The game is very entertaining, has many different types of levels for you to do, it is the same on the SNES and Gameboy Advance, pretty much just a straight transfer, but it is still a awesome game altogether. Once of the best Super Mario games ever.

The playability of the game is great, long term game, great fun, and its two players also, which means you both take it in turns, one of you is Luigi, and the other is Mario. You both have a set amount of lives each, but you can get more by picking up the green mushrooms.

The game is very addictive, you will want to conquer the islands that Mario lives on, and stop Bowser before you go to bed… I think that’s impossible.

The game is very original; it is the first Mario game that allows you to go through Mario land.

The game does not really have great graphics, it is in 2D, and if you compare it to the more recent Mario games, you will notice that it is not as good. But for what it is, and for what the capability it only could have had, it is pretty good graphics.

The background music in this game is awesome something that you could really listen too and you won’t get bored, that’s my kind of game music, the music is completely original, and very fun to listen too. Might get annoying now and then though!

There are no voices in this game, only typed out speaking, you will see the face of the person speaking, then it will show you the message they are saying, some of them will not have a face, depending on who or what’s speaking.

This game is excellent value, around £20 - £30 on GameBoy advance, and I recommend that you buy it. It’s an awesome game, a really good one for the fans, and others. I give this game 4 star * * * *, because it is not the best Mario game, but it is still very good!

Thanks For Reading!

Sounds like a cute game. Thing is, I think my kids want more fancy things than this these days for their PS2.
