Disadvantages: Storyline is as cliche as they get!

Super Mario Advance 2 is a platforming game for the Gameboy Advance.

The storyline in this game is very simple, Princess Peach has been kidnapped by the Evil Bowser, it is up to Mario and Luigi to journey through the world defeat Bowsers minions and rescue Peach ever the damsel in distress! Mario games pretty much wrote the book on how to make the most clichéd plot in video games!

The game does include a world hub screen this time around and you can use it to see how many levels are in the game and how far you have to go in the world, this makes it a lot better than the previous Super Mario Advance as it would only briefly flash the world you were on as you entered into the game.

Like the original Super Mario Advance you can choose which character you would like to play as though selection is limited to Mario and his brother Luigi, Mario is the all round character while Luigi can jump slightly higher making him more useful for certain parts of the game.

This game has you jump around through levels as Mario and Luigi and has a lot more powerups to choose from this time around, you can get the Mushroom which will make Mario or Luigi grow in size and able to take an extra hit, get a Fire Flower which allows you to shoot fireballs and get the cape which allows you to glide for a short distance.

You can also for the first time ride a Yoshi, Mario or Luigi hops on their back and uses the Yoshi to solve puzzles, depending on the colour of Yoshi they have different abilities. The original Yoshi can hover, red Yoshi can spit fire, yellow Yoshi can do the ground pound and blue Yoshi can fly.

Graphics have been kept similar to the style of the first game, they are colourful and bright and there are some great tunes throughout.

If you want some more Mario action, you should definitely try out Super Mario Advance 2!

Summary: An excellent Mario adventure.
