Disadvantages: can be frustrating when yoshi repeatedly dies so u need persistence!

This is an excellent game, at first I seriously doubt how on IGN and Gamespot they had rated it so high, but like me, if you love the Mario games, equally you will Love Yoshi's Island.

In this game Yoshi has to look after baby Mario. The aim is to get to the next level, in order to eventually rescue baby Luigi who has been kidnapped by Koopa.

Every time you complete a level, you pass baby Mario onto the next Yoshi & so on.

It is similar to Mario, and while it is just as challenging there are a few perks which makes this almost better. For example, Yoshi who has to look after little baby Mario is almost invincible & only ever dies if for example, you land on spikes.

Yoshi can eat enemies and choose to either spit them out, or lay an egg, which you can target at enemies or shoot off blocks to make way ahead or hit a switch.

It's a pretty simple game and no need for a walkthrough.

There are 6 worlds and in each world there are 2 castles where you have to defeat a big enemy. I'm on the last world at the moment and have been stuck on level 3 for some time which has been very frustrating! This game would suit someone who has time and persistence.

The best parts are the castles, some have even taken me taken ten minutes to complete since there's no time limit.

A definite novelty is the role reversal with Yoshi and Mario. And sometimes you can even be baby Mario very briefly! There are also bonus stages too. It's a nice game for both adults & children alike & can be enjoyed by all ages. Well worth the money and will keep you entertained for quite a while.

Summary: an excellent and fun game & not one that you will ever choose to give away
