Tickets are a necessary aspect of the game as, throughout the game, the player will be forced to "Skate or Die" and need to move his on-screen skateboarder to one of the various skate parks. Without the necessary ticket, the skateboarder will not gain access to one of these parks and have to outrun "deadly" obstacles which, if touched, will lower the amount of tries one has ...more

Premium Review 720° (GB): Blast from the past (434 words)
by - written on 21/01/09 (Very useful, 15 readings)
Rating:

Before beginning this review it is necessary to address the historical aspect of this title. 720° is regarded as the world's first "extreme sports" game which features skateboarding, released to the public in 1986. The Gameboy title, released in 1999, was meant to serve as a direct "port" (converted from an earlier platform to present platform) from the original game. It is necessary to keep that in mind for this title as it does seem like a blast from the past when playing. The objective of the game is simply to "skate" and perform various jumps and spins using the ramps, railings and other environmental objects in the game. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Retro Gaming On Your Gameboy? Could Do Much Better Than This ... (596 words)
by - written on 07/09/01 (Very useful, 47 readings)

Thee is nothing which can convince me that skaetboarding ranks up there with any of the interesting pasttimes and I would probably list it amongst such things as swingball, spacehoppers and pogo sticks on an excitement level. So when I came across a game of it back in the 80s I wasn't likely to be easily impressed. I expected that perhaps they may have changed a few things as well, but of course, they hadn't. 720 is a direct copy of the same game which many may have ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Get rad on the bog! (129 words)
by - written on 27/06/00 (Useful, 17 readings)
Rating:

720 is a conversion of the classic arcade game. There have been previous conversions, nearly all on "proper" 8-bit machines like the Speccy, but as far as I know this is the first one you can play on the toilet. Anyway, this is the original skateboard game. You skate around the town, earning money to get yourself into the skate park, to do "rad" tricks and things. It's all very retro, mainly you are jumping off ramps, and the gameplay is pretty simple, but it's pretty good fun. It's pretty tough, but the controls are good and the graphics clear enough. The music's pretty average mind you. There are better games around, but ...  Read the complete review
