 ... interest in this title plummets after reading the storyline. Gameplay is presented from an eagle eye view of the character's tank which is immediately immersed within combat. The tank is controlled by using the arrow keys and "B" key which fires the main weapon at opposing forces. "A" button controls the tank's acceleration but I did not find this to be necessary as the same function is done with the up arrow. "BattleTanx" is a below average title released to the Gameboy Color console involving, as one might expect, battles and tanks. The plot for this title is reasonably interesting. An epidemic spread throughout the world and removed 99.99% of the female population. The few remaining women were captured by vigilantes who now claim small fragments of the Earth as their own. The player's main character, Griffin Spade, lost his wife to one of these outlaws and during a period of war claims a tank and sets off on a rescue mission while "taking on the world".
