Advantages: Gameplay
Disadvantages: Smaller images
"Bust-A-Move 2 - Arcade Edition" is a puzzle game for the original Gameboy console and is a part of a long standing game series of the same name. For the purpose of this review, the cartridge west tested on a Color interface but I did not find this to make any noteworthy difference besides a slightly greenish tinge to the display.
In this title players control "Bub", the popular small dinosaur from Taito's "Bubble Bobble" game released in the late 1980s. The objective of this title is to complete puzzles within a condensed area in a certain time limit. This is done by controlling a "shooter", using the arrow keys, at the bottom of the display and pressing the "A" button to release small balls into play. Players must match three or more of the same pattern to remove the balls from play. Once the player has successfully removed all balls from play that will denote the end of the puzzle.
I'm somewhat neutral as far as the graphics go for this title. It's possible that the producers could have gone further in implementing clearer designs for ease in matching the balls appropriately. It is also notable that the overall appearance of the puzzle is somewhat tiny, possibly keeping with the original large display play that "Bust-A-Move" is common implemented on. I found myself bringing the console closer to my eyes in order to match the appropriate patterns together.
Audio is good and does not show areas of flaw that could otherwise have been improved. The musical compositions are enjoyable and do not offend the ears, though do come across as slightly loud in default setting.
Overall, "Bust-A-Move 2 - Arcade Edition" could provide some enjoyment to those who like puzzle games. I found "Millennium" to be the more superior "Bust-A-Move" title for Gameboy Color play and would lean more towards recommending that over the "Arcade Edition" here.
Summary: Good, but not great
