Advantages: Traditional gameplay

Disadvantages: Graphics could be perceived as poor

"Game and Watch Gallery 2" is a collection of earlier Nintendo titles released to the Gameboy Color console. There are six games in total within this cartridge and all were based on earlier "Game and Watch" handheld releases.

It seems that the data within this cartirdge was directly "ported" from the previously existing "Game and Watch" handheld games. Gameplay features something that would play from the late 80s when these handheld games were prominent. All six titles feature rather simple games such as "parachute" with Super Mario guiding a small boat while catching various skydivers and preventing their demise in the body of water which suspends the boat. It's unlikely that these games would offer any sort of challenge to the player but are a rather interesting retrospective on handheld games prior to Gameboy's existence.

Graphics, too, feature little enhancement from what I would perceive the original titles to feature; Colouring is very light and not particularly shaded which is what a typical standalone handheld game would have been like at the time. Characteristics typical to the "Super Mario" series, though, are obvious and distinguishable such as the detailing on Mario's red hat.

Audio fragments are rather simple in each title and not overly present throughout playing. The various effects seem to accent gameplay rather than dominate it, which is a nice break from what was the norm towards the end of the Gameboy Color's legacy.

Overall, "Game and Watch Gallery 2" features sporadic replay value for those interested in more vintage gaming. The games and tasks within are slightly simple for any true engaging challenge or play.

Summary: Vintage gamers would likely appreciate this title
