Mario Tennis

Camelot have hit big with Mario Tennis they have taken the same roll as Mario Golf where there is a storyline and you have to train you and your partner. Its like in Pokemon where you get experience points and move them up levels. So you have to decide do you want to make your doubles partner good and you bad, or do you want to make you good at you partner bad, or try and keep them eqaul. Its all up to you. So what does genre does it fall under sports or a RPG? Well to be honest its Both!

Well, I gotta admit, Camelot outdid themselves once again, by delivering some of the best visuals I've ever seen on the GB Colour. Now these are suppose to be 8-Bit graphics, but because of the high amount of detail on the characters like eyes, clothing designs, and one of the best looking tennis courts out their, it can easily be passed up as a 16-bit game at first glance

If you look at everything going on, it'll be hard to believe the GB Color can handle this, I mean, there's 4 players, all with a high amount of detail on them, plus the court looks great with chalked white lines marking the boundaries, and you got scores for both teams, and with all this going on, you would think this would get hard on your eyes, but does it? Nope, not a chance. Not even a single flicker. Just some of the best graphics on the GBC hands down.

What’s on other in Mario Tennis?

There are several modes of play which are all exciting from the Great Story mode to Exhibition. In the story mode you control a guy or a girl depends and you select a partner. Once selected you go through a lengthy F.M.V sequence which tells you of the basics of the game. You start off unranked and you have to get through the junior, senior then into the versity squad. This takes a lot of doing. You have to do this in both signals and doubles. There is then an exhibition mode where you can just pick up and play. Then there is the best
part, the Mini-games there are 5 too start of with but only 3 are available to play.

Can you download from the N64 version?

Yes you can. You download extra Mini-games and characters. You get an extra 4 Mini-games and 5 more characters. The new mini-games come from Wario, Yoshi and Bowser. The extra characters are the same + more.

How long will it take to complete the game?

I have been at it for 45 hours and still not there. I am doing the final cup put can not beat the person in the finals. There is also the Pick up ‘n’ Play hours not added onto that score. So all in all bout 80 hours for 100% completion of the Game.

How Would I rate the Game?

Graphics: 10/10

The graphics in Mario Tennis are beautiful. They may even be a notch better than those in Mario Golf. The players, the courts, and even the tennis ball all stand out so that there is no graphically limited gameplay effects

Controls: 9/10

The controls are fairly easy to learn. Control pad moves around your character, A and B buttons hit the ball. Your character might seem a little bit sluggish for moving around the court at first, but that's because each character has their own set of attributes, like Donkey Kong may be slow, but really powerful, and Baby Mario is pretty fast, but also very weak

Music: 7/10

Sounds wise, it’s your typical gameboy color game. It's got the repetitive midi backgrounds seen so vividly in almost all Nintendo games. One can always turn down the volume and listen to a CD if he or she feels like doing it that way. As for the effects, they are adequate. Nothing exceptional, but you can't really have any ''exceptional'' sound effects in a gameboy game

Gameplay: 10/10

Well, the story mode is a blast to play, and gives something worthwhile to put hours in on your own in single player so you can unlock all those extra
modes, plus you got mini games as well for extra fun. The exhibition mode will let you go on for hours against your friend. And to top it all off this game is one of those rare GB titles compatible with the Transfer Pak. Where you can upload game data from the GB to the N64 version of the game and gain extra characters and modes for both versions.

Overall 9/10 (not an average)

I would get this game and would recommend it to any one. Its just pure gameboy genius and would expect a Gameboy Advance Release soon

Ah, I wondered what had happened because this is a good review but the other part was really bad.

Good opinion that really makes me wonder why you repeated (badly) this opinion in the general section for the gameboy.
