"Micro Machines 1 and 2: Twin Turbo" is a video game released for the Gameboy Color console in 2000 by THQ. It is a remastered game featuring the original Micro Machines 1 and 2 titles for the earlier Gameboy console. In the United States, this game received a rating of "E" by the ESRB panel which deemed it suitable for all ages.

The gameplay of this title reflects previous games in the "Micro Machines" series. The game is presented from a top down view and features miniature toy vehicles in a circuit of odd race courses including breakfast tables, kitchen counters and bathtubs. The difficulty is balanced in that players cannot outrace one another; should one vehicle advance too far ahead the race will stop and resume from a central point with the lead vehicle receiving one point. Should the leader outrace the others frequently the race will stop and the leader will be awarded the victory. There is generally little difficulty associated with racing games but Micro Machines does present a challenge in using the course. There are some jumps and bridges which are not immediately obvious and can confuse the player initially. Both games contained in this cartridge feature 24 courses which allows for 48 races.

I find the graphics of this title to be good and remain comparable to the other higher standard releases on lower technology platforms. The display is always filled with bright, colourful images which makes good use of the console's available technology. There are few audio prompts in this game. I find that the only real audible cue in this game is the notorious "buzz" sound to suggest a vehicle's engine in motion.

Overall, Twin Turbo is an excellent package of two remastered titles and offers extended play for longer periods of time. I would recommend this game to prospective buyers.

Summary: Thumbs up
