Review on Pokemon red on the Gameboy colour
I first play Pokemon on the Gameboy back in 1999, this game became a big success as soon as it hit the shops, and this was bought by mainly kids or for kids all around the country. There now have been many Pokemon films out and a cartoon that is shown on sky one every morning as well as trading cards and many other toys. When Pokemon red came out A Blue version of the game also came out, called Pokemon blue, both of these games were the same apart from some you could get different Pokemon in.
The story
***********
This game starts in Pallet town, this is where you get introduce to your character in the television program his name is Ash Ketchum but in this game you name him whatever you please. You get introduce to professor Oak A Pokemon expert. Then he gives a choice of 3 Pokemon you chose one, and then your journey begins to become a Pokemon master.
What are Pokemon?
**********************
Pokemon are basically made up Animals/creatures with special abilities which you have to collect, to collect them you have to use Pokeballs these are used to capture the Pokemon in, To capture Pokemon you have to battle them and make them weak then throw the Pokemon ball, but this doesn't always guarantee capture it depends on the pokemon. There are a total of 150 Pokemon you can collect in a number of different ways. I'm not going to name all 150 but I will tell you a little about the most popular Pokemon. Pikachu probably is the most well known of all the Pokemon an electric mouse, with Yellow and brown stripes. There is also Bulbarsaur a Plant type Pokemon who uses such attacks as Vine whip. Squirtle is a water type Pokemon. Meowth is a cat and the only pokemon that can talk to humans.
How to collect the Pokemon
**********************************
You have to find wild Pokemon they hide in the following areas. Searching the following places, you can crawl through tall grass, Go through a forest, Power plant, and ever collect sea Pokemon ever a haunted building, where you can catch ghost Pokemon. There are always a couple of special ways of getting some of the Pokemon; firstly you can transfer Pokemon between two Gameboys. To do this you need to have a link up cable to Gameboys and a version of Pokemon the game either the blue/red or Yellow editions. You need to transfer some of the people because you cannot get all of them from just one of the games each version has it's own selection of red only Pokemon.
The second way is you can get your Pokemon to evolve into a different type of Pokemon once they get to a certain level.
The Badges
***************
Within Pokemon you will go through eight different towns in each of these there is a Gym, With a Gym leader, for each gym leader you defeat you will require a badge with there own special abilities. You will have to acquire all 8 badges to be able to fight the elite 4 at the end of the game.
Items
*********
There are many items within this game, the basics like Pokeballs and the town map. There are other items such as Moonstone, fossils, HPs to upgrade the Pokemons abilities and many other items. When you get further into the game you will get better Pokeballs, e.g. Great Pokeballs and Super Pokeballs.
Extra info
************
You can only carry 6 Pokemon at anyone time, when you catch extra Pokemon there are store on pc which you use during the game to store items and Pokemon. There are shops where you can buy and sell stuff. Pokemon Go up to level 100 and no higher. If you had Pokemon Stadium on the Nintendo64 and the Gamepak Which went on to bottom of the Nintendo 64 join pad you can use this game to gain a few extra Pokemon.
Graphics
************
This graphics are not really all that good to be honest but they do there job well enough; there is limit colour and detail.
Sound
********
The sound is a little a better you get the music throughout the whole of the game that can become annoying after a while but it's not to bad and you get the sound effects when you are fighting.
Gameplay
*************
This is the games best quality it is super easy to play and really fun to play even though it is more for kids, but it's a game I’ve been playing for ages.
Overall
*********
This is a really good which will keep children amused for hours, there are newer versions available, but they will cost you £30. But you can probably get this version for £5 second hand, or if you want a copy give me a buzz I’ve got 2 copies.
