Advantages: Cool game, the ones that started it all, it's possible to catch them all.
Disadvantages: Outdated.
This was the game that started it all. Pokemon Blue along with it's partner in crime Pokemon Red tore apart all other fads when it was released. Quite frankly, after the release of the game and television series the world went "Pokemon Crazy", and that is a mental illness so many people are only now recovering from.
The game itself is vaguely based around the first series of the Pokemon television series. The aim of the game is to catch as many Pokemon (sort for Pocket Monsters) as possible, and training them to the infamous Level 100. There are over 150 Pokemon to catch, some of which have to be traded from other games such as Pokemon Red, Yellow, Gold Silver or Sapphire. Along the course of the game you must defeat all of the "Gym Leaders" and eventually the "Pokemon League" in order to achieve Pokemon stardom.
The graphics and sound are somewhat outdated, but that makes this game no less playable, as it is still to this day completely addictive. What's better is it has a great lifespan, it took me well over 48 hours total gameplay to catch all of the Pokemon, and more after that in order to train the all. It should be noted that this game cannot be played on the DS or the DS Lite, but it can be played on all other Nintendo handhelds to date.
Overall this is a must buy game for any RPG fan, Pokemon fan or Nintendo Gameboy owner, as it one of the greatest games ever released. In addition to this it can be aquired cheaply on eBay and other online sites. A tip I would give to people is to look for a complete boxed version of the game, as no doubt in a few years time they will become extremely collectible.
Summary: It's worth a buy, if you can find a copy in decent condition.
