Advantages: Brilliant and addictive

Disadvantages: Not so on second play

Pokemon Yellow is a brilliant game. The idea of the game is that you are a young boy called Ash who sets out to catch all 150 Pokemon for Professor Oak, who captures and gives you a Pikachu. To play the game is simple and doesn't require any skill at all (except for patience!). You walk around a world which is shown by a 2D view. If you are in tall grass some wild Pokemon may (and will) pop up and try to fight you. You must pick one of your Pokemon and select an attack. There is a chance it may miss or not effect the enemy or various other problems. If it hits then it damages the other Pokemon. The Pokemon start off with a full health bar and it decreases as it loses health. The game is turn-based. If a Pokemon loses all its health then it is knocked out. It must be healed at a Pokemon centre or if it is an enemy Pokemon, just left there. When an enemy Pokemon is hurt you can try and catch it by throwing a Poke Ball at it. If you catch it is now your Pokemon (well done!). You may also get challenged by other Pokemon trainers along the way. The fight is the same as with other wild Pokemon, except for getting money if you win. If you lose any of these battles you are sent to a Pokemon centre with less cash than before. There are a lot of fun extras in the game, such as the safari zone where the only aim is to catch Pokemon. Along the way you must defeat all the 8 gym leaders to receive badges from them. After that you may enter the Pokemon League. You have to defeat four elite Pokemon trainers without going to a Pokemon centre in between. When one of your Pokemon defeats a rival Pokemon, your Pokemon gets experience points. After it gains enough experience its stats improve so it is tougher. The graphics and sound for this game are fairly good but not brilliant. It is incredibly addictive but without difficulty. This is a brilliant overall game with a very good idea.

Pardon? I thought this was meant to be an opinion rather than a discussion. I didn't learn much hence the SWU rating. I'll be happy to re-rate your opinion just email when you do.
