"Star Wars - Obi Wan's Adventures" is a video game released to the Gameboy Color console in 2000 by THQ. It is based on the popular Star Wars franchise. In the United States, the game received a rating of "E" by the ESRB panel which deemed it suitable for all ages.

The player takes control of character Obi Wan Kenobi and is guided through the "Episode I: The Phantom Menance" Star Wars story from Obi Wan's perspective. It is an action based title presented from a top down view. The player must engage with nine stages of play, most of which is typical Star Wars hack and slash. Unfortunately this is a pitfall of the game as the controls are often cumbersome and difficult to maneuver. There are areas where the enemy "swarms" Obi Wan and his signature weapon, the light sabre, is not able to cope with this onslaught from all directions. The player is fixed to one position when using the weapon and must stop, turn and reuse the weapon when facing another enemy. This time lag is known to deal otherwise excessive damage to the player in combat and can make for rather frustrating play overall. When looking past this flaw it is a generally easy game to complete but presents a learning curve when trying to effectively deal with multiple enemies.

I did not find the graphics to be particularly inspiring. The colouring is rather poor and features minor shading as opposed to full bold sections. The detailing to enemies and the character itself is horrific and almost looks like an ink spot as opposed to any sort of image. I was able to differentiate between my character and the enemies with ease but did not enjoy doing so. The sound is likewise of a comparatively poor quality and I opted to play the game without the use of the screeching, looping effects.

Overall, Obi Wan's Adventures is a disappointing Star Wars release to the Gameboy and I would not recommend it to prospective buyers. I would compare it quite easily to a similar failure title in "Yoda's Stories".
