... Mario series and even gamers have moved on. Nintend offered that nice first step towards releasing their old archives with this title but these days it just doesn't offer enough. Gameboy and Gameboy color games are getting a bit rare now. This however was a very well selling game and often surfaces on eBay or Amazon for less than Ł5. It will run in any Gameboy or Gameboy advance console. Unfortunately this cartridge will not play in any version of the Nintendo DS....more

This game is an update of the 1985 Super Mario Bros for the NES and was released in Europe in August 2001, which was a year and two months after the American release! It's basically the same as the original but with a few differences such as less levels, and there's also a challenge mode which allows you to go through the original levels to find items and get beat high scores. It's an old classic revived for the Gameboy Color that's still just as enjoyable as when it was released. I remember playing this on my friends Gameboy back when I really wanted my own console but didn't get one until about four years ago. It was one of my favourite games at the time and ...  Read the complete review

Hmmm, Super Mario Brothers? Deluxe? What? Isn't that that stupid 1985 game created by Shigeru Miyamoto that was released for the Famicom (A Japanese NES)? Wow, it's that game that started it all, that damn game that got me to lose my entire social life during the early 90's. To be honest, I should burn this "deluxe" cart and throw it hard to the ground and continously stamp on it until my rage is over, but instead, there was this urge to play it... Possibly it was the fact that I remembered playing it when I was 5-6 - remembering the first ever level and how fun it was to just fly past the level without getting into contact with the goombas ...  Read the complete review

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (GB): Fun but we've seen it all before by now. (773 words)

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for the Gameboy Colour is essentially a port of the original Super Mario Bros on the original Nintendo Entertainment System home console. It was one of the earlier titles available for the Gameboy Colour and offered some of the best Mario gameplay on the system. It was also one of the few ports of the original Mario Bros. at the time and introduced the game to a new generation along with a raft of extras. Super Mario Bros. should be a familiar story by now. Mario and Luigi must travel through a series of intricate, well designed platform levels, defeating nasty mushrooms and evil turtles as they go. Their mission is to rescue Princess ...  Read the complete review

Super Mario bros. delux (SMb) was released in 1999 , to recreate both the sales and the fun of the origional NES version. It was a revolution as it allowed 2 players to play together on the same game, 1 as Mario and the other Luigi, I bet you can guess who the fights were always over for characters. The game was extremely simple , story wise, it was a classic tale in which you must defeat all of Bowsers enemies to get back Princess Toadstool who had been kidnapped. This allowed a simple , flowing plan as you went through the 8 worlds of the mushroom kingdom. As I said , the game had 8 worlds with 4 sections to each, one of those being a ...  Read the complete review

Mario Brothers DX is another fine DX remake from Nintendo, even better than the Zelda remake (I'm only talking about the extras, not the actual games). Not only is there the pixel-perfect original Mario game available, but they've thrown in a load of other features as well. The original was a classic, and it plays just as well on the Game Boy. There are more than enough buttons, plus two view modes - both of which are adequate for the Game Boy's tiny screen. But it's the extras that really let the game shine. There's VS Mode, which allows you to race a friend (using the link cable) through a level. Blocks are added that change the ...  Read the complete review
