Written by a Russian, published by a Japanese company, bought by me, aged 13, in the UK in 1989. Tetris. One of the greatest games... ever is truly multinational and fantastically addictive. This is a review of the original Tetris, that was given away with the Gameboy upon its release. The new DX added a few thigns, such as hi score save, butis pretty similar for all intents and purposes. Even now I boot Tetris up to have a quick blast, some 12 years later. In fact, I just "splashed out" for another copy from eBay it's so great. Now Mrs Quirky and me will be able to enjoy the greatness that is 2 player Tetris. Mmmm. Linky. Tetris is one of ... I borrowed my 8 year old nephews Color Gameboy for travelling home after visiting my parents and it took me six months to return it I told him I had lost it because I did not want to give it up, this was due to me getting addicted to the color version of Tetris it is much more pleasing to look at than the black and white version, and also the fact that I had beaten all the highest scores possible. I sat for hours in bed at night with this thing until I had beaten my previous best and was aggrivated when I did not do it, it was taking over my life, that is when I decided to return the game to my nephew I had to grow up!! Well that is what I thought after two ... Read the complete review

This must have been a no-brainer for someone at Nintendo. Updating the most addictive, not to mention popular, puzzle game around for their color Gameboy must have seemed like a winner. And it is. Exactly how you update Tetris is the problem. And the answer is you don't - it's perfect as it is. Instead, they add some useful save game features as well as more little animations for the good players to find. The big problem with this version of Tetris is that it's a bit easier than the last. I found myself scoring almost twice what I can on the old Gameboy Tetris, and I actually know someone who managed to max out both the lines and the score ... Read the complete review

I think just about everyone has heard of Tetris, and probably played a version of it on one computer or another. The latest version for the Gameboy colour takes advantage of the colour capabilities for better graphics and clearer gameplay. However don't expect anything you haven't seen in previous versions of Tetris. Gameplay is as addictive as its always been, so you'll find yourself spending hours trying to get a little further up the levels. What you do get with this version is a solid game of Tetris that's portable. If you haven't got a version of Tetris for your Gameboy this would be the one to get. That said I haven't played my ... I am reviewing original tetris here, as I can't find it anywhere else. Basically, Tetris is probably the best game ever in terms of universal simplicity and addictiveness. You all know what it is, so there's no need to explain. It has been copied many times, but remains the classic. I first started playing when I was around 10, in the 80's. I played for a few years, then stopped for a few years. Time passed by...then I rediscovered it. How wrong I was to think that Gameboys were uncool...now I have the old-skool grey Gameboy back! Nostalgia... So now I've started playing again, and play with about 4 other guys from my college. Soon we are ... Read the complete review
