The knight moves diagonally only! (The Chessmaster (GB))

Advantages: Cheap, adjustable enemy skill level Disadvantages: Not that much fun
Well they finally did it and put Chessmaster onto the Game Boy Colour. I picked this up from Game for only £7 so I didn't mind whether it was bad or good when I bought it. It surprised me as it turned out that this is actually a very good game. The graphics are very smooth and the sounds good. The actual gameplay is well...its chess. If you don't know how to play then it is a highly strategic game where you have to trap your opponents king. It isn't very addictive but it is excellent value for money and the gameplay is good. You can pick out of 13 different skill levels from the awful beginner 1 to the beat-anybody infinite. It is possible to save your game but it is a very long winded process (the code is about 30 letters long). Two-player games are possible via link-cable and two on one gameboy. Chessmaster isn't the greatest or most fun on the gameboy but at only £7 it isn't a rip-off. Summary: |
