Freedom Fighters is based in a hypothetical USA after the Soviet Union wins the cold war and invades America. You play as the "Freedom Fighters" of the title fighting back against the Russians. You play from a third person perspective and can use plenty of different weapons such as Machine guns, Pistols and Molotov cocktails as just a few options.
The levels are divided so you can choose what order to complete them but they are interlinked. For example, you may have to destroy a helipad in one in order to destroy a bridge in another, which makes the initial playthrough slightly more interesting although doesn't add much to the overall experience. You can control a number of other soldiers alongside you, and they actually follow your orders quite well. This means that there is actually a slight advantage in planning your attacks rather than charging forward and letting your soldiers die.
The multiplayer is mainly focussed on capture the flag type objectives which means that they inevitably become slightly dull. The graphics are also quite poor and there are some weaknesses in the control system but overall it is worth its price.
