King Kong (GC) ... to modern day New York City. Playing both as screenwriter Jack Driscoll and as Kong himself, players will fight their way through a number of different environments and locations. The storyline of the game follows the new movie adaptation fairly closely. Jack, filmmaker Carl Denham, and up-and-coming star Ann Darrow are looking for the perfect location for a new film, and they think Skull Island is just the place. Upon arrival, however, the find the island crawling with prehistoric creatures, dangerous natives, and one giant ape. Much of PETER JACKSON'S KING KONG THE OFFICIAL GAME OF THE MOVIE takes place in the first-person perspective of Jack.

... you use by pressing the left and right top buttons on the controller. At first this is a bit tricky but you get used to it in the end.
The only way in this game that you can tell about your health by looking at the screen is by your breathing and heartbeat that get faster and faster the more injured you become. Then if the screen goes read and silent then you are dead!
There are many varied weapons to use which is good. I found that the game is more realistic and believable as you don't have unlimited ammo. You ...more

I really enjoyed King Kong the movie and normally when games are made about movies they do not always rate that highly but this game is an exception and I think Peter Jackson's remake is really brought to life in this Gamecube game. The game takes place almost entirely on Skull Island where King Kong lives. So in that respect it's better than the movie as that had an hour or so before they got to the Island itself. You are the character of Jack Driscoll who is the educated and well respected playwright in the new movie. I remember the hype around King Kong when it was released with such a huge budget much was expected of the game to succeed and I guess on many accounts it did. I didn't go to the cinema to see it as I heard it was on for over 3 hours and didn't want my backside falling into a coma. So instead I rented the DVD, much like the film the game allows you to play as Jack Blacks character or Kong himself, you go through each level detroying your opponents and anything else that gets in your way.
