Before you read the rest of the review, bottom line is, this game is a blast! I have been playing the Phantasy Star online series since the dreamcast, but I love how this game is different than the others. The other ones you just hit stuff with swords or shoot guns at them, but this game uses cards with different attributes and attack ranges to kill an enemy. Here is how it works: You role 2 dice, one for attack and one for defense, and the value of the dice is what you can do for that turn. The first phase is to "equip" your card. This was one of the first games i bought for my game cube and the first time i had gone for a phantasy star game. The game follows a rpg format but the battles are done turn based on a grid similar to the wild arms franchise. The controls are really simple to pick up and the graphics are good. All epuipment and monsters that you can use are done by collecting cards that you will get for fulling various tasks, the higher your task rank the better chance you have of aquiring a rare card.
