Advantages: Its great fun

Disadvantages: Heartbreaking when your pikmin are eaten in a battle

Pikmin is great, fun, cute and good fun. It has the sense of achievement that makes game play good. It is also strangely sadistic but more on that later.

Captain Olimar crashes to a planet where his ship parts have been scattered. Whilst there the microscopic astronaut stumbles across the strange pikmin breed. He also encounters some very dangerous creatures which eat the pikmin and can hurt him.

You play as the captain unearthing first red, then yellow and blue pikmin. The pikmin regard you as their leader following you wherever you take them which is where the sadistic part comes in, the yellow and blue pikmin can't survive in fire and the red and yellow ones can't survive in water. The pikmin can attack their predators and carry them back to their little onions where they get beamed up to sprout more pikmin. The pikmin help you rebuild your ship until when the game is complete you fly away leaving them alone to face their enemies.

This game has the elements of planning strategies to best accomplish your goals of finding all 29 ship parts in 30 days. You'll want to play it over and over to beat your score.
